The Blog of Love for Megaman: Introduction  Blog by FetusZero,  Category: Games

I recently purchased myself a small present, or rather a large one for a Megaman fan such as myself. I figured it would be good to start my Blog of Love for Megaman series with this purchase before getting into the serious task I engaged myself to do; Writing about Megaman's story all while filling the plot holes and showing my love for the Blue Bomber. Hopefully, by the end of these many blogs, Tanya (and all of you, but Tanya was the one who asked) will understand why I love it so much. Despite being often regarded as kids games, Megaman still is regarded as the most challenging games of all times, so much that people actually begged Capcom to make Megaman 10 easier because they thought Megaman 9 was too hard for their weak skills (I mean come on.. Megaman 9 was one of the easiest in my opinion), no offense intended to those who had difficulties with it.

Not to mention that Megaman has what I consider the most devoted fans any video game has ever had, with most of them being over the 20's today, some with families, kids, even married. So don't you dare call Megaman a kids game! Hopefully, these people will induce their knowledge and love of the Blue Bomber to their kids so that he can live on forever and be the biggest character ever known in the video game industry, if he isn't already with his appearance in hundreds of games after 22 years. Many of us have been following the series since we were kids. The first Megaman game I ever played was Megaman 2 (I must of been around 4 or 5 years old), and I still love you Quickman, even now that I am 23 years old. I still hate the disappearing blocks from Heatman's stage though.

On to the topic, the Official Complete Works books are what I have bought. Unfortunately, I don't think there exists such books for the Legends and ZX series, but I suppose they will exist one day. If they exist already, I never saw them.

MM MMX MMZ OCW
Series of the Official Complete Works books. Notice how I even used a blue background! (those are my bed sheets)

These books are a nice addition to any Megaman fan's collection. It contains the official artworks of every enemies in the games, official and never before seen sketches and it also holds parts of the story in the games. All of this is filled with comments from many people who, over the years, have worked on the Megaman titles, including Keiji Inafune, who is regarded as being Megaman's father. With all of this stuff in the books, it gives us a nice 200 pages books per series, which in this case is the Classic series, the X series and the Zero series. Originally, Rockman and Rockman X were in a single book for their release in Japan, but when Udon got the rights to translate and release it in North America, Megaman and Megaman X got their own seperate books, each with around or over 200 pages.

I will list the games found in each of the books along with its different sections, all of this with a nice scanned picture of the front and back of the corresponding book. I apologize for the length of the contents since it is pretty long, especially for the Classic and Zero series. I marked the pages of categories but not of the sub-categories. You will notice in the classic series that Megaman & Bass is there twice, but that's because originally, it came out on SNES in Japan only as Rockman & Forte, it only came out much later in North America under the name Megaman & Bass on GBA.

That sums it up. I would of put scans of a few pages inside the books, but that's when I realized it was pretty hard to scan the inside of such large books with semi-hard covers, so I didn't do it lol.

This marks my first of my series of Blogs of Love for Megaman, and hopefully I'll be able to come up with something interesting about the series. Considering the numbers of canonnicle series (that is purely speculation) and how I need to fill the plot holes, I'd expect between 7 nd 9 blogs to complete this. Technically it would be one for each series (which makes 5) and one for filling the plot holes between each (which means 4), but if I can, I'll place plot holes in the same as a series if its small enough for me to prevent a blogging chaos. Despite hating the Battle Network and Star Force series, I will make a small blog explaining a little bit of their stories, though they do not appear to be part of the other series. I will explain why once I get there.

Next time, in the Blogs of Love for Megaman, I'll begin with the classic series and work my way up.

That means Mega Man has more title than Star War series. Something new I've learnt today. And, even though AC was repetitive, it was fun playing the game. Maybe the same goes for Dead Rising. But once you say worst game you've ever played, I believe it was over hyped.

If I were your mom, I'd do the same thing too. lol. Sorry I couldn't resist saying it even though it was for Ron.

@Tanya :
I don't know how many lol. There's too many for me to count, especially if it includes the appearances in other games. I do know that it is over 100 titles if we include everything. And yes, I know for Dead Rising lol, anyway you aren't missing much unless you like doing the EXACT same thing for hours. It's at least a million times more repetitive than the first Assassin's Creed. I'm still not sure why it got so much popularity, it's one of the worst games I ever played.

@RON :
I'm not sure why you never knew. Even my mom knows it lol. She even proposed to do a cake with Megaman on it for my birthday ;D

@Tanya :
I'll go get a coffee and reply, just woke up since I'm working from 4pm to 12am this week lol.
...
There you go :] They're all games listed. And not to forget theres the Legend, ZX, Battle Network and Star Force series too, which aren't listed in these games. So basically in terms of official Megaman games, the missing ones are:

Megaman 9 and 10
Megaman Legends 1 and 2
Megaman ZX and ZX Advent
Megaman Battle Network 1 to 6
Megaman Network Transmission
Megaman Battle Chip Challenge
Megaman StarForce 1 to 3

There's more, but they are arcade games or Japan only so I don't know them. All this without including the games in which Megaman characters appeared such as Marvel vs Capcom or Tatsunoko vs Capcom. The Servbots in Megaman Legends also are pretty popular and are seen everywhere in Capcom stuff, they are the small LEGO like robots with a yellow head. Oh and you can unlock a Roll (Megaman's sister) costume in Dead Rising, as well as a Megaman costume I think lol. The possibilities are endless ;p

I'll try to scan some pages for a future blog which won't be part of the main series. Anyway I do plan on scanning some of the images for use in my series of blogs too. Ciel in MMZ is so cute :]

@Xiao :
No! Nobody gets My Megaman stuff! I remember back in the days, one of my girlfriend told me "When you die, I'm going to burry you with all of your Megaman games" lol. She even asked me what would I save if I had to choose between her and my Megaman games, but I'm a nice guy, I said I'd save her but she better help me buy the games again afterwards :] but in reality everyone knows I'd save the girl.. I'm not mean enough -_-

I wasn't expecting this blog so early. I usually read long blogs before going to sleep but I couldn't resist for this one. But this isn't finished yet. You still have so much more to tell Smile

Now it's the tutorial session. Since you are going put up a series of  blogs, I'll try to learn as much as I can about this giant franchise. (To be honest I didn't expect to see so many titles under this blog. Specially didn't expect those books). Now questions. Are those 44 games under the Meganan series (005) and Megaman X? Or they are all just chapters of those books? I felt like seeing all those artwork inside but I guess I won't. How expensive those books are?

As I'm writing my replies, I'm watchin 28 Weeks Later (thinking of you, Tanya ;p lol) and all I can hear while reading is AAARH GRAHH or whatever is the noise coming out of the infected.. quite creepy.

@Koshai :
Thanks! I've had this series of blog in my mind for a little while.. yet I still have no idea of how I'm going to write them lol.

@Canana :
And in my mind, it is still the best you can get even in this current generation :] I'm actually replaying the series lately and I'm currently at X2.

@Scientist :
Thanks, glad you liked it :] If only Item 2 was accessible in Heatman's stage, but my pattern makes him the second boss -_-

@SitiZal :
Thanks for the great comment :]

@BrunoBRS :
Despite hearing them infected that comment made me laugh a lot lol. Thanks :]

@davidck07 :
Thanks :] Hopefully I won't disappoint and you'll enjoy the rest of the blog series.

Very nice I'm excited to see more of these blogs.

Oh and I agree, the disappearing blocks on Heatmans stage are the worst.

Megaman was great. I've played a lot and despite of being hard, was the best you can have for an 8 bits machine.
