Interviewing David Gabriel  Blog by Tanya,  Category: People

Enjoy the interview…

Tell us about yourself and share something you usually don’t with general people.

For starters, I'm really just your average, ordinary, 19 year-old (just putting that out there). I am generally shy, quiet, and reserved, but I'm a really friendly guy once you get to know me. Sometimes I don't have a lot to say, and sometimes I'm a chatterbox; depends on the situation, really. There's nothing in particular that I don't usually tell people; I'm a pretty open person, and I'd be glad to share lots of things with others.

Share something from your personal life? Your hobbies, activities, family etc.

I was born and raised in the Philippines and presently living life here in Arizona. I'm currently in college and studying to get a Nursing degree. I'm also considering taking Journalism as a minor as well, but I haven't decided as of late. As for hobbies, I play video games (I would be crazy if I didn't!), and of course writing about them. I've also written some anime reviews on the side, but not as much as the latter. My other hobbies include listening to lots of genres of music, messing around with musical instruments (guitar and drums), reading books and magazines, watching movies and anime, and hanging out with my best friends. Of course, family is important to me too.

What type of games you like the most and name few of your most favorite games?

Role-playing games and platformers are mostly my cup of tea, but I've started to warm up to shooters and action/adventure games in recent years. I would probably play any type of game as long as it's enjoyable enough for my tastes. My most favorite games include Final Fantasy X and VII, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Kingdom Hearts, C&C Red Alert 2, Call of Duty 4, Okami, SMT: Persona 4, Killer7--the list could go on lol.

Tell us how you came to know about NoobFeed and why you decided to stay?

I came across NoobFeed when a friend (dev_ron) from Giantbomb made a blog about the site's launch. During that time, I was still hanging out at Gamespot, and at the same time, just started exploring the Giantbomb site's features. So I thought, hey, why not add a third go-to site to my list? I immediately signed up, came and went on many occasions, and here we are. I decided to stay because I've never been a part of a site from the start--other than Giantbomb of course. But since I got hired as a staff writer, I saw that as an opportunity to contribute a whole lot more to the site. I thought maybe if I do my part, I can help this site grow and prosper. And so I'm here.

You seem to enjoy writing for NoobFeed. Even though you’ve joined the writers team late, you have the highest number of news posted. What’s the secret behind his inspiration?

Lol there's no secret, I assure you. I just write. If I find an interesting news subject, I'll let people at NoobFeed know about it. I like informing people about things I find intriguing. Sometimes I won't even stop talking about it. Sometimes my best friend has to put with it. And fortunately, so does the NoobFeed community. I write and will write plenty of news articles for users to read. There's a 75% chance my name will be plastered in 1,000,000+ of those articles by the time the year 2010 is over. Deal with it. =P

Joking aside, I'm not going to be able to consume every single gaming news article out there, but that's why you have your fellow staff writers to fill in those gaps, right?

You are a popular name among gamespot users. What initiatives did you take to bring some friends here in NoobFeed?

I did some bribing--no just kidding. If I remember correctly, I think I mentioned NoobFeed in a couple of my blogs at Gamespot. And now I'm seeing some familiar faces coming from there to here.

Name three users from NoobFeed community; who you think are ideal users.

fishdalf (Craig Bryan), for constantly reminding us [writers] we need to keep adding content to the site to keep the ball rolling; thanks for keeping us at our toes.

canana (Marco Cecilio), for contributing pretty much everywhere on the site. Whether it's game previews, features, reviews, news articles, or even the community; he's there.

RON (Sarwar Ron), of course if it weren't for the CEO of NoobFeed, there wouldn't be a NoobFeed in the first place. Thanks for founding (or co-founding?) a site with a lot of potential in it to grow.

What are the things you don’t like about NoobFeed and what are that you like?

I initially thought the text editor was a pain to deal with, but now I have no qualms about it. Other than that, what I like  most about NoobFeed is the community. Friendly users and staff, friendly setting--I like it.

What is your future plan for NoobFeed and other communities you are part of? And, what kind of role you want to play when this community will get larger?

My only plans for NoobFeed is to continue to contribute as a writer for as long as I can, and get to familiarize myself with the community more than I do now. I want to play an important role when this community gets bigger and bigger each time, and I guess I'll start with being a news guy for them. If that helps bring more people in the site, then I'll be glad to be a part of what makes that happen.

Thank you for your time Gabriel. Tell us anything you feel like saying to the readers and, have a nice day.

Thanks and you're welcome, Tanya. I just want to say cheers to everyone at NoobFeed, and let's make this site a bigger and better place as days pass. We can do it!
