I have got another idea. This idea is coming from gametrailers.com. We can set up a point system. The users can get points by posting in forums or write blogs or even while viewing videos provided if the video channel is available. The user can also get significant bonus points for featured blogs, news or videos. Later the users can spend these points on improvising their profile: like putting banners or sort of wallpapers or custom sigs. Some users may not know how to use photoshop so these users can get a hell lot of benefit from it.
Now lets go to business stand point. In future when NoobFeed gonna start making money thorugh ads or even through ads from videos provided there is a video channel, NoobFeed can have its own marketplace or sort of auction house. Let me tell you how it works. Suppose NoobFeed has a PS3 (only 2-3 of them) and is willing to give away to users who buy through points. Say a PS3 would cost around 250000 points whereas an user can score only a point for the activites at the top. I am sure a lot of people would join just for the fact its a free PS3 (the users need to work a hell lot to get there). In that case moderation would be difficult since people have to monitor quality posts. At that time huge number of users will be posting in forums and writing blogs and viewing more videos thus allowing NoobFeed to earn more money. You never know, maybe if Sony makes campaigns in this site, they might even would like to give away 3-4 PS3s to NoobFeed, so NoobFeed can sell those through points. The whole idea is meant to attract massive number of users going for a single goal (to get the PS3). There is however another problem with it. Since users will join for the race for points, users may not be friendly. NoobFeed is gaining a reputation of being a friendly community. To make the point system effective while trying to make NoobFeed a friendly community, more points should be awarded for putting comments in another user blogs or user videos. Its like you gaining more points by being more friendly thus allowing making more friends. After all if anyone offends users, the users have the report anyway.
I know its pretty hard to implement and should be considered when NoobFeed gets down to business, its worth a try.
