With Fall Guys being one of the fastest growing battle royales on the market, developer Mediatonic is always looking for new ways to change up their game, while keeping the whimsical playstyle that fans have grown accustomed to.
On September 2, the official Fall Guys Twitter revealed a new obstacle to the game, known as Big Yeetus. According to the post, Big Yeetus "will randomly appear in levels - to shake things up...Big Yeetus is chaotic neutral...Big Yeetus is not your friend... Big Yeetus is not your enemy."
As seen in the video attached to the post, a rotating hammer, seamlessly floating in midair, launches a player almost to the finish line. This was a great example of the advantages of this new obstacle, but the player was by themselves when using it. If surrounded by a huge crowd of players when Big Yeetus spawns, be careful of the edges.
The hammer is capable of not only rocketing players forward, but also knocking them off the map, as well as disorienting them entirely. Although the hammer's name and concept may seem a little outlandish for Fall Guys, it is actually a pretty big change, not accounting for the upcoming Season 2 of the game.
Up until this announcement, Mediatonic has made minimal changes to their maps, though occasionally expanding them in Redux stages. What makes Big Yeetus stand out is that it has the potential to spawn on any map, at any time.
This will break the game free of any rut-style gameplay, keeping the game alive for longer with fewer major changes. Although some fans may not get tired of playing the same maps over and over, it can get very repetitive if changes like this are not occasionally introduced.
Big Yeetus is a huge step for Mediatonic because of its behavior and abilities, as well as the fact that players have to adjust themselves to hit the right angle, or plummet to their demise.
