The Sims 4 a single-player offline experience

Earlier today Maxis and EA announced that The Sims 4 will be coming to PC and Mac in 2014. More details were promised and EA has followed through with some relieving news.
The Sims 4 promises to give long time fans "a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever," encouraging "players to personalize their world with new and intuitive tools while offering them the ability to effortlessly share their creativity with friends and fans," says EA.
Translation?!
With EA's recent debacle surrounding SimCity many wondered if The Sims 4 would be an 'always-on' game. The company revealed that The Sims 4 will be a "single-player offline experience." Certainly a sigh of relief to The Sims fans.
