Recently Red Thread Games successfully funded the long awaited sequel to The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Due to its success, Dreamfall Chapters brought much attention to the development studio, raising over one million dollars on Kickstarter.

With Dreamfall Chapters still in development, Red Thread Games announced that the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI) has awarded them a $144,000 grant for a new game, titled Draugen.

Set in the 1920’s, Draugen is a first-person survival horror adventure located among the mountainous Norwegian west coast. Inspired by Scandinavian legends and Norse mythology, players see Norwegian national romanticism through the eyes of an American - exploring a remote fishing community and uncovering the mystery behind its missing inhabitants.

However desolate the small settlement seems, players soon discover they are not alone. On occasion a woman in black appears in the distance and a child sings as the sky darkens. What is this place and what hides in the dark?

With the already large project Dreamfall Chapters in the works, there has been some concern from fans about the sequels development. Red Thread Games has made it clear that Dreamfall Chapters is their priority, with a completely new team working on Draugen.

Draugen is being developed for PC, Mac, Linux and next-generation consoles. For more information visit draugengame.com.
