You can't get much more creepy than The Lady, a 2D puzzle/adventure game from the indie label, MPR ART Hallucinations. The game's hand drawn character art and photographic background images will immediately have viewers intrigued, and after delving into the story behind The Lady, you're going to want to play, or you'll run away screaming.
The game's title is also the name of its main character. Our protagonist, The Lady, suffers from anxiety, depression and terrifying fever dream hallucinations. Throughout the game she comes across many different versions of herself and questions which ones to trust.
As far as gameplay, The Lady takes inspiration from classic SNES and TurboGrafx-16 games. A brutally difficult side-scroller featuring arcade-style battles and simple puzzles, this indie title boasts stop motion animation and "a hauntingly abrasive analog soundtrack."
Games are good - weird games, even better. In his most recent video blog, the game's creator, Michael Patrick Rogers, said, "This is one of the weirdest games that you're ever going to f-ing play in your life." Also discussed on the vlog, and more recently on Steam, was the time frame for the game's release. Rogers announced that The Lady will wrap up with production this month, and it will release late this May on Desura and Green Man Gaming.
The Lady is patiently waiting to make its way through Steam Greenlight, so go ahead and support the indie title by giving it an esteemed thumbs up.
