The Sony press conference is the second-to-last of this year’s E3 and there were a good handful of announcements. It debuted with pretty cool music sequence which prefaced the trailer for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Then, we got a trailer for Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. This will be a DLC which moves the action across frozen expanses. It is coming sometime later this year. A pretty lengthy gameplay trailer for Days Gone followed. Monster Hunter World was announced and is said to come sometime in Early 2018. Furthermore, it was confirmed, on Twitter, that this time the series will make it over to PC, albeit at a later date than its console counterparts. Blueprint Games and Japan Studio had a trailer for a Shadow Of The Colossus remake for the PS4, coming next year.
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite will come out on September 19th. The trailer shown featured a wide cast of characters including Rocket and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, Black Panther, Chun Li, Megaman, Thanos and Dante. Ultron seems to take the villain’s chair this time around. A story demo is now available for download, if you want a taste of the title before its release. We also received a new trailer for Calll Of Duty WW2. Sledgehammer games seem to have peaked into the neighbor’s yard as bayonet charges have made it in the game. Aside from that, we saw MG42s, M1 Garands, Grease guns, the streets of Berlin as Soviets conquer them, basically what we’d normally expect from a World War 2 title. Call of Duty WW2 comes out November 3rd.
Following was a slew of VR title announcements. So far, we’ve learned that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be coming coming to PS VR, as will Star Child, a fairly colorful title about a girl and a giant robot. The Inpatient was announced, for those into playing horror games in VR (I both envy and don’t understand you people). Furthermore, Sony are looking after those people who’ve been constantly saying to themselves that a Final Fantasy XV fishing spinoff was all they ever needed. Monster Of The Deep is just that and will be available this September. The VR segment was closed with Bravo Team, a modern military shooter and Moss, a title featuring a cute rat battling all sorts of fantasy creatures.
A closer look at the upcoming God of War title was given in a trailer. It will seemingly focus a good amount of attention on the relationship between Kratos and his son. The trailer also ends with a look at a pretty f*cking giant World Serpent. I’m personally looking forward to Dad Of Not-So-Much-War, where Kratos and his family take care of their farm and bicker about which name to choose for their baby Cerberus pups. Detroit: Become Human also received a trailer. It focused on Markus, an android who wants to stage an uprising against humans who’re using androids as tools. The image of a store containing inactive androids was indeed striking. The title is set to pose a set of interesting questions and, being a Quantic Dream title, will most likely have choices that impact the story.
Destiny 2 will be coming out September 6th and, PS4 users will benefit from exclusive content in the shape of a Strike, Lake of Shadows, gear, the Borealis – exotic sniper rifle, and an exclusive PvP map – Retribution. The title will also have a Season Pass. Sony’s conference ended with a gameplay trailer for Spider-Man, an upcoming PS4 exclusive. The clip showcased web flinging and Arkham-style combat, alongside a helicopter chase sequence. Martin Li (Mister Negative) will be one antagonist that players will have to fight. Quick time events also seem to be part of the deal. Spider-man is set to release sometime in 2018.
Sony went on to play the strong IP card with the upcoming Uncharted, the DLC for Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War and Detroit: Become Human. It makes me wish Monster Hunter wasn’t the only one coming over to PC, although I’ll happily take that one. One more player is left and that is Nintendo, whose conference is later today. Which announcement from Sony got you hyped the most? Let us know in the comments below.
