Announced at the end of August, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 was officially revealed today on Fatshark's Twitch channel. The game is a direct sequel to Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide. The five heroes from the original are making a comeback and it is here where we have the first new features. Each hero will have three different careers. In the case of Bardin, he can choose between being a Ranger, a Slayer or an Ironbreaker. Each career has a passive and an active ability. The Ironbreaker's passive allows him to take less damage, while his active is a Taunt that also renders him briefly invulnerable. Kerillian can be a Dark Elf Shade, gaining bonus damage when attacking from behind and an active ability which allows her to turn invisbile and run through foes.

Upon levelling up, heroes will receive talent points to use in their new talent trees. The developers have stressed that, while the five heroes need to be levelled up individually, their careers are made available as you're levelling them up.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will feature a Heroic Deeds system which grants consumable quests as loot drops. These consumables can be shared with party members and modify levels. An example given by the developers was requiring players to beat a level on a high difficulty setting with all the enemies in it being minibosses. Furthermore, the loot system has been reworked, with a focus on making it easier to target items for a specific character or carreer. It was also mentioned that green weapons can  have the same damage numbers as orange ones, yet will lack the extra stats or effects of the latter.

The action will be moved to Helmgart, featuring new locations and weapons such as the spear. It won't just be Skaven we'll fight, either. The Warriors of Chaos, more specifically a not-so-merry band of Nurgle devotees, join the fray. Thus, Skaven will team up with Marauders, armored Chaos Warriors and even a Chaos Spawn that can pick up players, use them as weapons, and have a bite out of them to restore health once it gets bored. The Skaven ranks will also be reinforced with new faces such as the Stormvermin. There will be more than twice as many enemy types than in the original. Mod support and dedicated server functionality are also on the list of features the devs are aiming for.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will undergo at least one Beta phase for which players can sign up on the game's website. The title is set to come out sometime in Q1 2018. It is now available for pre-order on Steam for the discounted price of 25,19€ or your regional equivalent.
