Nier Producer Confirms New Game In Series Has Begun Development
New Nier game now in development

NieR: Automata was one of the best games of this year and producer Yosuke Saito has confirmed that a new game in the franchise is in development.
In September, Square-Enix put up a recruitment page for a scenario writer for the Nier series. When asked about any new developments, according to Game Informer, with the project in this week's upcoming Dengeki PlayStation, Saito commented:
"Well, when it comes to a game, we’re making preparations in earnest for the setting, which you could probably have guessed due to the fact that we were recruiting a scenario planner."
When asked if this was part of a new game the answer was:
"He is… At least, I'd like to believe so. Taro-san says he will do anything as long as he gets paid for it, but there is no one else I know who doesn’t move for money as much as that man. He only wants to do whatever he wants to do. So I’ll try my best to explicitly say what he doesn’t want to do to guide him towards what I want to do."
Considering that Nier: Automata exceeded expectations for Square Enix in sales this shouldn't be surprising. As of September 2017, it sold over 2 million copies.
Nier: Automata is now available for PS4.
