The Division 2 Has Been in Development for 2 Years

Ubisoft revealed The Division 2, confirming the rumors. Massive Entertainment is heading the project and during a stream explained that the project has been in development for 2 years.

The Division's creative director Justin Gerighty explained that the team discussed concepts on a sequel before the first game was released. The Division launch team and a small team at the studio was working on a follow up after a "month".

You can take the news as either good or bad as the post-launch reception for The Division was rocky due to the game's server issues and mediocre progression system. The game would eventually gain 20 million players over the course of its run thanks to continuous updates. Ubisoft didn't confirm a release window but we will likely hear more at E3 2018.

The Division 2 is currently in development.
