It's finally here, CD Projekt RED has released the gameplay footage for Cyberpunk 2077 providing players a demo of what the acclaimed studio has been working on for years.
We get a glimpse of V the protagonist customization look and backstory. Players will have access to 6 statistics that include strength, constitution (health), intelligence, reflexes, tech, and cool (most likely charisma). Classes will be fluid and can be modified.
The gameplay footage provides multiple aspects of the gameplay. With protagonist V infiltrating a gang stronghold in search of a specific target. After a short and bloody fight, V is able to locate the girl and heads outside. We get a look at Trauma Team, a high-end medical unit for those who can afford it.
During the firefight, we get to see mobility found in titles like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided with the player being fed constant information from their support. Guns, as shown, will have DPS, penetration, accuracy, and rate-of-fire. With recoil, spread, and range also being a factor.
Clothing will serve as armor and include bonus stats as well as resistance to physical, thermal, EMP, and chemical attacks. Clothing will also provide street credit to gain favor among the NPCs of this world. Extending the need to obtain clothing items more than battle.
CD Projekt RED isn't taking any liberties with the Mature themes. Characters can indulge in an array of optional activities including sex, drugs, and more. With advertisements shifting based on the player's preference. The music is also amazing, providing a modern take with futuristic elements to complement the uneasy atmosphere of crime, murder, and death.
The video made note that the game will feature no loading screens as V started to explore Night City. With crowd and community city has been enhanced with the "most believable open world city in any open world game to date." CD Projekt RED claims the NPCs will live their lives in a full day-night cycle.
Similar to The Witcher series players can choose their dialogue options to alter the story. This extends to the gameplay with the player provided with multiple options of how to take on objectives. If you need some extra boost a Ripper doctor will provide upgrades for players, everything requiring Eddies (a slang turn for Euros). Illegal grade options are available from black market Rippers, meaning that certain commodities are only available through specific means.
Driving was highlighted with other vehicles confirmed being motorcycles and "more". Previously enemies you encountered were shown ambushing V, leading to a high-speed chase full of gunfire. Random encounters will happen based on your actions as the enemies from the previous mission ambush V. It was also shown that players can drive in first and third person.
The trailer highlights that the video showed is not a representation of the final game and is subject to change. Meaning that many of these mechanics are change, hopefully, we won't have another BioShock: Infinite situation here as the game already looks incredible.
Cyberpunk 2077 is now in development for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
