Corrupted Roots are one of the best endgame farming tools available in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred. They come from the Tree of Whispers after unlocking them via War Plans and can be planted into specific gear slots or materials depending on where you plant them. This feature becomes especially advantageous during the Gift of the Tree event as Tree of Whispers rewards become even more advantageous.

The best way to use Corrupted Roots is in Helltides. You only need the first node of Corrupted Roots unlocked to start farming but the Roots of Power upgrade is highly recommended as it doubles your rewards when planting a root in a Helltide. The final upgrade, Head Rotten Feet, is useful because it can spawn Head Rotten Bosses, but it is not mandatory.

Best Locations To Plant Corrupted Roots

The location matters because each region has its own guaranteed reward pool. Hawezar is one of the best options because it guarantees Forgotten Souls, Skull Fragments, and Gloves. This makes it a good choice when you need crafting materials, or want to specifically target farm Gloves with Greater Affixes.

Scosglen is another valuable location because it gives Helmets and Sigil Dust. The Helmet reward is less exciting, but Sigil Dust is important because it lets you craft Tributes at the Occultist. Since Scosglen is currently one of the best places to power farm Sigil Dust, it is worth using when you need Tribute crafting materials.

Why Party Farming Is Strong

Corrupted Roots become much better in a party. Material drops are shared with everyone, so a four-person group can spread the rewards across the whole party. This makes the farm more efficient and helps everyone gain more materials from each planted root.

How To Farm Efficiently

Plant your Corrupted Root close to a Blacksmith inside the Helltide. This saves time because the farm drops a large amount of loot, and you will need to salvage or manage gear often. A clean Loot Filter also matters because it helps you ignore weak items and focus only on useful gear.

Charms can also improve the farm. Look for the affix that increases crafting material drops. With strong rolls across multiple Charm slots, you can gain a major boost to material drops. Do not weaken your build too much, though, because you still need enough power to clear enemies quickly.

Best Tree Of Whispers Activities

Nightmare Dungeons are one of the best Whisper activities because they give five points and can be cleared quickly. You do not need a Nightmare Dungeon Sigil when the dungeon is already marked as a Whisper. Just enter it from the map, rush the objective, and finish it fast.

Doing Legion Events and World Bosses are good as well as they are fast and have useful rewards. Legion Events give three points, while World Bosses give five points.

PvP Zone Abominations are excellent for fast Whisper progress. Each one gives five points, and purifying Seeds adds another three points. That means each PvP zone can give up to eight points.

For Helltides, the fastest method is to go straight for the Maiden, kill it, claim the five points, and move on. Mysterious Chests can take too much time unless you have no better activities available.

Undercity, Pits, and Lair Bosses are also useful when they appear as Whisper activities. For Lair Bosses, check your boss keys in the inventory. A Tree of Whispers icon on the key means that boss is currently active as a Whisper target.
