In Ghost Of Yōtei, Charms are key for combat, exploration, and survival. Many are unlocked early in the game, but some require mountain exploration, Shrine Puzzles, or mini-games to be unlocked. This guide covers the best early Charms, how to get them, and tips to maximize their benefits in Ghost of Yōtei.

Getting Your First Charms

You will likely obtain your first Charms early, including the Charm of Mount Yōtei, which reduces damage as you upgrade it. To improve this Charm, complete Reliquary Puzzles, starting in the Yōtei Grasslands by aligning objects toward Mount Yōtei.

Another early Charm is the Charm of Thoughtful Restoration, which boosts your health and is obtained by bathing in any Hot Spring marked by red trees or located via the Cartographer. As you visit more hot springs, its effect increases in Ghost of Yōtei.

Initially, you have a few major Charm slots, but collecting Charms from Shrines, Fox Dens, and Vendor Taro helps upgrade minor to major slots, expanding your collection.

Powerful Charms in Mount Yōtei

Climbing Mount Yōtei in the Yōtei Grasslands is recommended to access two key Charms for melee and ranged combat.

The first is the Father’s Charm, which enables perfect parries to restore health—a vital skill for duels and boss fights. When paired with the Bounty Master’s Armor, it grants two extra counterattacks after a complete upgrade in Ghost of Yōtei.

The second is the Mother’s Charm, boosting Arrow damage, ideal for ranged or hybrid builds, especially in stealth scenarios.

To upgrade the Father’s Charm, complete Sunumi Paintings; for the Mother’s, learn new songs on the Shamisen. Both are obtained at Mount Yōtei Shrine, located on the west edge of the Yōtei Grasslands, accessible via a parkour route to the summit. While there, collect rewards like a Weapon Kit and a Skill Point from the Altar of Reflection.

Charms for Assassination Builds

The Charm of Izzagi heals you after you kill an enemy, which helps you stay hidden. In the Ishikari Plains, near Otaru Beach, past the Sun’s Peaks Shrine, you can find it. The Charm of Assassin's Resolve gives you Spirit for every kill, which you can use to heal or improve your skills. It's in the western Yōtei Grasslands, near Tranquil Falls, at the Fox Den in Ghost of Yōtei.

Charms for Resource Farming

Gathering resources like Wood, Flowers, and Plants is vital for upgrading Gear. A key Charm in Shikotsu Woods, near a pool in Yōtei Grasslands, boosts resource collection, often doubling it, though not always reliably.

The Charm of Kanayago also helps collect Medals and Black Powder, though its location is unknown. These Charms are best used during exploration or gathering, then switching to combat or stealth loadouts for battles in Ghost of Yōtei.

Charms for Ranged Combat

The Charm of the Kibitsuhiko extends concentration when you land a headshot, from the Risen Fog Shrine in the Tokachi Range after climbing to it. Another Charm boosts Spirit gain from headshots, located at Blooming Ridge Shrine in the Yōtei Grasslands before Serpent’s Pass.

The Charm of Fatal Silence makes Arrow's impacts silent, preventing enemies from detecting missed shots. To get it, visit the Gambling Den in Teshio Ridge, the snowy area at the map's north, and win the Zeni Hajiki game twice—once to unlock the challenge and again for the Charm in Ghost of Yōtei.

For better odds, enable the Zeni Hajiki Shot Power Display in accessibility settings. It shows a power marker on the board, helping control shot strength and improve your chances in the game.
