Onryō’s How is a powerful ability in Ghost of Yote that can disrupt groups of enemies and turn encounters in your favor. Learning how to unlock, charge, and activate it correctly will help you manage more brutal fights more effectively. This guide explains how to acquire the ability, how to charge it, and the correct way to use it in combat.

Unlocking Onryō’s Howl

To get Onryō’s Howl, go to the Growth section in your Skill tree and navigate to the Revenge section. You will find the option to unlock Onryō’s Howl there. This ability becomes available early in the game during the mission where you unlock the Shadow Inn. At that point, the game introduces the Skill, explains its function, and helps you understand how to use it.

Understanding the Ability

When activated, Onryō’s Howl terrifies all nearby enemies. It forces one enemy to flee and also generates Spirit energy for you. To use it, you first need to build up a kill streak of five consecutive kills.

You will notice a small meter at the bottom-right corner of your screen. This meter features four rectangular segments that illuminate yellow as you accumulate kills—once all segments are filled, Onryō’s Howl becomes available for activation.

If you take damage during this process, the kill streak resets to zero, and you will need to start over. Avoiding damage is crucial to fully charge the ability.

Activating Onryō’s Howl

Once you've killed five enemies in a row without getting hit, press the left and right thumbsticks at the same time to use Onryō's Howl. By doing this, the ability is activated, and enemies may become too scared to fight, letting you strike without any resistance.

Practical Tips

To charge the ability, focus on killing enemies one after the other while keeping your distance or using defense moves to avoid getting hit. When this mode is turned on, many enemies will pause or run away, giving you a chance to attack them or reposition yourself.

Using Onryō’s Howl effectively can help you manage multiple enemies in combat situations, especially during missions where crowd control is necessary.
