Altars of Reflection in Ghost of Yōtei allow you to unlock additional techniques that improve your character’s Abilities. To locate more of these Altars, you will need to use specific Maps purchased from a key NPC. This guide will explain how to access these Maps, place them correctly, and find the Altars.

Traveling to the Yōtei Shadow Inn

Begin by heading to the Yōtei Shadow Inn. If this location is already unlocked in your game, you can fast travel directly to it. Open the fast travel menu, press the Triangle button, and select the desired entrance. Choose the entrance where you can find Isaburo, the Cartographer.

Speaking to the Cartographer

Once you arrive at the Yōtei Shadow Inn, go to the area where Isaburo is standing and interact with him. Through him, you can purchase pieces of the Traveler’s Map. These Maps are sold for a set amount of Coins in Ghost of Yōtei.

If you have enough Coins, buy all the available pieces. If you want to obtain more Maps later, you must progress further in the game by completing missions. After advancing in the story, return to Isaburo, as he will offer additional Maps that can be added to your collection.

Using the Traveler’s Maps

After buying the pieces of the Traveler’s Map, open your main Map by pressing the touchpad. You need to align each piece of the Map you purchased with the in-game Map to reveal the locations of the Altars in Ghost of Yōtei.

The first Map leads to the Waterfall Altar, located near the center of your Map within a ravine-like area. Once you position it correctly, a new Altar of Reflection will appear. The second Altar, also known as the Waterfall Altar, is situated along the same river, but further downstream, in the bottom right-hand corner of the Map.

You will need to align the second Map piece there to mark the location. The third Altar, known as the Overlook Altar, is positioned at the top right-hand corner of the Map. Place the final piece of the Map in that area to uncover it in Ghost of Yōtei.

Confirming the New Locations

Once all pieces have been placed correctly, the new Altars will appear on your Map, marked with a small brown paper-like icon. These Altars generally follow the path of the river and are situated relatively close to one another. After you have revealed the Altars, return to your main Map to see all the newly added Altars of Reflection. Interacting with these Altars allows you to unlock new techniques that will expand your character’s progression in Ghost of Yōtei.
