All Confirmed GTA 6 Side Activities and Minigames So Far
From scuba diving to shady casino rumors, here's everything you'll be able to do outside the main story.

You already know the main story in GTA 6 will be massive. Rob Nelson, the head of development at Rockstar Games, has said a single campaign playthrough could run past 80 hours, and that number doesn't even touch side missions, races, or any of the extra stuff scattered around the map.
So it's worth breaking down everything you'll be able to do outside the main missions, based on what's been shown so far and what's still just a guess. Some of this comes straight from the extended gameplay look, some from leaked footage and screenshots, and some is pure speculation. Let's start with what's actually been confirmed.

One of the more surprising additions is how deep the wildlife and outdoor activities go.
Scuba diving is confirmed and looks genuinely detailed. While you're swimming or diving, you'll need to watch your air supply, oxygen levels, and stamina meter, and spending time in the water will build your stamina the more you do it. The reason to bother with diving comes down to two things.
First, there are collectibles hidden throughout the game, though nobody knows exactly what form they'll take yet. Cave diving looks like it'll be part of this, letting you swim through underwater caves that carry a real risk of getting lost or drowning, presumably in exchange for some kind of treasure or reward.
Second, you can track down wildlife. You'll be able to approach animals and study them, and it sounds like there's a full catalog of every creature in the game that you can work toward completing, with some kind of payoff once you finish it. That catalog system ties directly into hunting too. Since this isn't a period piece like Red Dead Redemption, hunting works differently here.
There's an NPC who introduces you to the mechanic, and it looks like bringing back pelts, skins, or meat from animals you take down will earn you money. Fishing works a bit differently, though. It's structurally similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, but you can't keep anything you catch.
You can't sell fish for cash or eat them to restore health. It seems to exist purely as a collection mechanic, likely tied into that same studying system, since a modern-day setting doesn't really give you the same practical reasons to hoard fish that a game set in the past would.
The game also has a confirmed zoo, though no gameplay of it has surfaced yet.
It sounds like it'll function partly as a date location, which brings up another major category: fitness. You'll be able to work out in a few different ways. Trailers show Jason exercising on the beach, leaks reveal he has a home gym, and the extended look shows Lucia bench-pressing at a full commercial gym.

To use one of those commercial gyms, you'll actually have to walk in, go to the front desk, and pay for a membership before you can use the equipment. Once you're signed up, vending machines let you grab a protein shake or energy drink to boost your stamina and push out more reps.
Doing three different weight exercises, like bench presses, squats, and deadlifts, will improve your health, while cardio equipment like treadmills and bikes, or just running and biking around the open world, will build stamina over time.
One nice touch is that workouts can double as dates. If you bring Lucia along and start working out as Jason, she'll do her own exercise routine at the same time, improving her stats simultaneously. So calling her up to meet at the gym lets you knock out a date and a workout session at once, with both characters coming out healthier.
A few fitness-adjacent activities are confirmed to exist, but their exact mechanics are still unclear.
Wrestling shows up in the extended look with Jason taking part. However, it's unclear if that's tied to a specific mission or if it's a repeatable activity, possibly with some kind of wrestling league you can join and progress through over time. Lucia has footage and rumors connecting her to a boxing background as well, so there could be a similar boxing league or training system.
However, there's no confirmation yet on whether training actually makes her hit harder in combat. On top of that, there's apparently a fitness app on your in-game phone that tracks your sleep, and skimping on rest will start dragging down your stats, including health, stamina, and likely focus too.
Basketball is also confirmed, and making shots seems to boost your focus stat, which should make you sharper elsewhere in the game. It's not clear yet if pickup games with other characters are possible, but the activity itself is there.

Pool tables show up in early promotional images and in leaked footage from inside strip clubs, and it's reasonable to guess pool works similarly to basketball, potentially with betting options against other characters and a stamina boost for playing.
Racing gets a lot of screen time in the extended look, with street racing, off-road racing, and motorcycle racing all shown off. E-scooters also appear throughout the footage, and while there's no confirmation of scooter or bike races specifically, it wouldn't be surprising if those modes of transport eventually get their own competitive events. A couple of other unexpected features popped up too.
Lucia is shown at what looks like a shooting range.
It's unclear whether that's tied to a specific mission or a standalone activity where you pay to shoot targets for fun. BASE jumping and parachuting also appear with Lucia in the extended trailer. It's not confirmed whether you can keep that item equipped at all times to jump from any high point or vehicle, or if it's more limited, but you'll likely need to pay for the gear regardless.
Now for the parts that are still speculation. Miniature golf looks likely thanks to an image showing Cal Hampton holding a putter in front of a course, though full golf, something that's appeared in past entries in the series, hasn't been shown at all despite golf courses being visible on the map. Tennis courts have also been spotted next to basketball courts in promotional images, but there's no confirmation tennis is actually playable.
A bigger question mark hangs over gambling. Previous open-world games have featured card games and casinos, and the very first GTA 6 trailer showed a lottery sign inside a gas station. Still, there have been rumors floating around for roughly a year that gambling and lottery features might get stripped out entirely, possibly due to regulations in certain regions around gambling content in video games.
Since there's no way to buy in-game currency with real cash here, it's a bit of a moot point either way, but some form of gambling still seems likely to make it in one way or another. One theory worth floating is that in-game sports matches, like games played by the football team tied to the stadium shown on the map, could let you place bets and even attend matches in person, though again, that's entirely unconfirmed.

Television is confirmed in some capacity, since the extended look showed Jason sitting down to watch a couple of in-game commercials.
This includes a fake antidepressant ad and a parody of a fast-food chain. Whether that extends to full watchable shows or just rotating commercials remains unknown. Music is also a major part of the world, with a long list of real artists signed on to appear across the radio stations and ambient soundtracks.
This means you can simply drive around and take in the city. In contrast, music players could be an activity in their own right. GTA 6 almost certainly has more features that haven't surfaced publicly yet, beyond everything mentioned here.
This rundown doesn't even touch story-driven content like heists and robberies, since those are part of the main campaign rather than side activities. Between stat-boosting exercises, animal encounters, racing, gambling rumors, and everything in between, GTA 6 is shaping up to have one of the deepest activity lists the series has ever attempted.
