5 Beginner Tips for Trials Rising

Diving into the Trials franchise with Trials Rising, here are some tips

Trials Rising is not an easy game. It requires a lot of time and dedication to learning how to properly control your avatar, especially if you're new to the series. Here are 5 beginner tips for Trials Rising.

Don't Accelerate  All the Time

If you want to finish first, you need to go faster and for some, that means running the gas all the time. That's not the case in Trials Rising. While accelerating does propel you forward this increase in speed can cause you to overshoot jumps, crash into objects meant for platforming, and become harder to control. Instead, find a balance between using the weight of your motorcycle and the momentum of slopes to properly clear gaps.

Go for the Gold

It may seem optional but those medals do mean a lot for progression. Some of Trials Rising's later challenges require the player to reach a certain standing. It's best to try and earn those high medals early within the game. Not only for experience purposes but so you don't overwhelm yourself with backtracking events.

The Bike for the Track

Trials Rising doesn't have a lot of bike options but each one is designed for specific players and tracks. While some like the Donkey is meant purely for entertainment purposes some bikes work better than others in certain situations. The game does a great job of selecting the ideal bike for the track but if something isn't working it's always best to go what works for you. For example, the Rhino has a lot more weight compared to the Squid.

Filters Option

This is more of a missable feature but Trials Rising does have a filter option if you're looking for specific options. Over the course of the game, players will have access to a lot of different tracks and events. The filters option, located on the left side by clicking L1, RB on Xbox One, will allow you to locate specific tracks without having to move the cursor everywhere.

Play the Tutorial Constantly

Seems obvious but gamers, especially those with years of gaming experience, often overlook the tutorial and prefer to learn while they play. This is not ideal when playing Trials Rising as the tutorial has been crafted for both beginners and veterans in mind.

The opening stage serves as a jumping off point the tutorial starts to introduce the basics. It may seem simple, driving over small ramps but it's not as easy as it looks. Players will need to master these simple tasks if they ever hope in getting to the top leagues. As you progress you'll need to master more advanced techniques such as hopping on flat surfaces, which the tutorial covers.
