THQ Nordic has found great success in purchasing old IPs and releasing them with updated visuals and sometimes new content. With the most recent being SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom that received positively acclaimed from fans the upcoming Destroy All Humans! 2020 gaining traction. After confirming Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning the company has now announced it'll release this September 8th.
The original game was well-received and sold over 1 million copies in 3 months but the title needed 3 million sales. Since it didn't meet this goal the original developer was closed. However, much of the studio's issues stemmed from poor financial decisions from upper management. There's a terrific video from Matt McMuscles detailing this how much a talented studio full of incredible creators somehow failed despite having a well-regarded product.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC this September 8th. The original game is now available for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
