Italian voice actor Luca Ward recently spoke about how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the game industry. He claimed that while some studios like CD Projekt have continued to hire voice talent for titles like Cyberpunk 2077, other developers have chosen to delay projects. Among these include Ubisoft, who had previously hired Ward to dub the Italian voice of Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher.

According to Ward, a new Splinter Cell game was original meant to be released this year but due to COVID-19 related lockdowns, Ubisoft adjusted its plans. Ward went on to state that the title would possibly be “a conclusive episode” and he is confident that the project will resume soon.

Ubisoft has confirmed that there will be another Ubisoft Forward event during 2020, so there is potential that a new Splinter Cell title is announced. However, with it being so late in the year, it is likely the game won’t release until 2021 or 2022 at the earliest.
