Publisher Take-Two Interactive released a few new details about PGA Tour 2K21, their recently licensed golf franchise. Previously, the PGA Tour had been an Electronic Arts (EA) staple for ages, during the Tiger Woods era.

Now that the golf franchise is under the 2K wing of Take-Two Interactive for a few years, developer HB Studios has been applying its sports expertise to it. In the latest announcement, PGA Tour 2K21 revealed that there will be an extensive track customization option. Previously, HB Studios revived golf games with their own property, The Golf Club, which featured such editors. It's no surprise to see them tack on their work to this franchise as well, given they're basically the same games at this point.

A post on the PGA Tour 2K21 site goes into the details of the track customizer. For instance, there will be multiple biomes available on which to build golf courses. Moreover, it will be possible to populate the track with a mess of assets, such as an army of squirrels, a crocodile or even jet planes; anything goes.

Developer HB Studios made its name creating sports games for EA. From 2005 to 2012, their name was attached to yearly releases from EA, such as Madden and FIFA. Publisher 2K turned to them two years ago to continue this routine for their PGA Tour games, though they have not been going for yearly releases as of yet. There's a remarkable quality to having a studio dedicated to doing one thing to the point of an art form, quite like developer Codemasters does for racing games.

PGA Tour 2K21 is releasing this month, on August 21, for PC on Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia. That's right, Stadia is seeing a release day and date.
