In a Tweet earlier today, Rocksteady Studios confirmed their upcoming game, with more information to be revealed later in the month.

Early on August 7, Rocksteady Studios tweeted a picture that revealed their upcoming game. Since the release of Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015, the studio has been oddly silent about new DC-based games, though many have speculated a Superman game or even another Arkham sequel. But with this latest announcement, Rocksteady has confirmed that their upcoming project will be a game based around the infamous Suicide Squad.

Attached to their Twitter announcement, which only read "Target Locked-DCFanDome-August 22," there is a picture of Superman, with a sort of target on his head with the Suicide Squad logo. This may point to an endgame of the Squad attempting to kill Superman, if not the entirety of the Justice League. As of now, no story details have been officially revealed, though previous leaks have pointed to a sub-title of the game: Kill the Justice League.

However, no other information was provided in the Tweet, save the DC FanDome event, set to premiere on August 22. Based on the fact that this date was included in the Tweet, it is possible that more information about the upcoming game will be revealed at the event. At the FanDome, fans are likely to get more information about the James Gunn directed soft reboot of the film, after its less than stellar original debut. DC FanDome is presenting many more captivating announcements than just Suicide Squad; it has been heavily rumored that WB Games Montreal will reveal their new game, a new addition to the Arkham series.

Although the upcoming Suicide Squad game has supposedly been in the works for years, it is possible that the team may have to push back their expected release date. At the moment, the game is nearing the end of its development cycle, but the next-generation consoles are quickly approaching. This may mean that the game is not yet playable on the PlayStation 5 or Series X, and may have to be pushed back to accommodate, not to mention the complications of Coronavirus.

The Suicide Squad game will receive more information on August 22, during the DC FanDome event. No story or full title details have been confirmed by Rocksteady, so be sure to take all forthcoming information with a grain of salt.
