Sony Releases Video Tearing Down All Aspects Of The PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 is about 1 month away from release. While lots of people missed out due to scalpers and a poor pre-order campaign the PlayStation 5 is one of the hottest items to release this year. With Sony providing a breakdown of the console and show what's inside.

Yasuhiro Ootori, VP of mechanical design, hardware design division, narrates and stars in the breakdown of the system. Ootori opens by giving the exact size of the system:

104mm wide

390 mm high

260 mm deep

The front has:

USB Type-C and Type-A with high-speed USB support. The rear-side has 2 Type-A ports, a LAN port, HDMI out port, and AC In connector.

2 rows of front air vents with a rear exhaust or as well. Gamers can recover the base and store the screw holding the system and base together inside the base. The base can be stored on the console to place it on its side. Gamers can remove the side panels to access the dust collectors. The system will have a future storage expansion option with M.2 interface with PCIe 4.0 support installed.

Looking inside we see the system has a 120mm diameter, 45mm thick, double-sided air intake fan with a Blu-Ray player. The drive is covered in sheet metal with 2 layers of insulators to reduce drive noise.

Inside the PS5 we have an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 CPU, 8 GDDR6 RAM, and 825 GB of SSD. The PS5 will use liquid metal to ensure stable, long-term high cooling performance. Powering everything is a 350W power supply.

The PlayStation 5 will launch this November 12th and 19th November in the UK and the rest of the world.
