Overwatch is getting a massive new change for 1 of its playable Heroes. With Jesse McCree, named after a former Blizzard employee, getting his name changed.

The reason behind this was after the California lawsuit revealed that Jesse McCree, the former senior Blizzard employee, was revealed to be part of the "Cosby Crew". A group of developers would host alcohol-fueled parties and attempt to hook up with women at the company.
This isn't the first character who was named after a Blizzard employee named in the lawsuit. Blizzard developer Alex Afrasiabi had an NPC named after him in World of Warcraft but was changed after it was revealed he was part of the Cosby Suite crew in the lawsuit. Blizzard Entertainment terminated Afrasiabi in 2020 after an internal review of his actions.
This is a massive decision considering McCree plays a huge role within Overwatch lore. This would mean re-recording the character's lines in the original and in-development Overwatch 2, any mention of his original name in the game's world, and much more.
