The re-release of GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas got a lot of fans excited but now that enthusiasm has turned into friction. With original versions of the games getting removed for the updated versions.

As reported by IGN, fans won't have the option to play the older versions of these games starting this week.

This isn't new, most publishers remove older games for newer versions such as the new version of Alan Wake. However, GTA is different as licensed music plays a major role in the franchise. New versions of GTA games are often altered with different music due to licensing agreements expiring. For many, this hinders the overall experience as the original music often complimented what was going on during those exact moments.

The other reasonable conflict is that players have no idea how these games will perform. No gameplay was shown for the GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition which has many worried since the games are releasing on mobile as well. Most games, even remasters, are designed with the lowest-performing platform in mind and could mean a lower-performing title. If these new versions perform poorly gamers won't have an option to get the older version unless they gain access to a PS2 or PS3 version of the game.
