Microids has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming adventure game Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh.
In a new adventure inspired by Hergé's popular comic book, young Belgian reporter Tintin and his loyal Fox Terrier Snowy investigate the tomb of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. After a chance encounter with Egyptologist Sophocles Sarcophagus, the pair fall into the dangerous world of narcotics trafficking as they travel "from Egypt to India and Arabia".
Tintin was created by illustrator Hergé (real name Georges Remi) in 1929 and made his debut in the youth segment of Belgian newspaper Le Petit Vingti?me. Despite his long history, Tintin has only received a handful of videogame adaptations, most notably the movie tie-in game The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn in 2011.
Microids' CEO Stéphane Longeard hopes that fans will receive "the adaptation of their dreams", and this "tribute to Hergé's work" has been developed by Spanish developers Pendulo Studios. The studio specializes in stylistic adventure games and has previously collaborated with Microids on Blacksad: Under the Skin and Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo.
Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh releases 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
