Sony Entertainment held a State of Play event on September 13th and showcased a number of upcoming PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 titles, the show featured games that fans have seen before and plenty of brand new reveals.

The event began with the official announcement of Tekken 8. The electrifying trailer was recorded in-game and saw characters Jin Kazawa and Kazuya Mishima come to blows on a rocky outcrop as a large storm blows in from the sea. The latest title in Bandai Namco's long-running series contains highly detailed character models and fantastic-looking weather effects. While release date was given, the debut trailer confirmed Tekken 8 will be on PlayStation 5.

Next up was the announcement that Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy's Edge Enhanced Edition and Demeo would be coming to PS VR2. Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy's Edge, developed by ILMxLAB, was first released for the Oculus Quest in 2017 and puts the player in the shoes of a droid repare technician that has crash-landed on the planet Batuu. Demeo meanwhile transports the experience of playing a fantasy tabletop board game into the virtual world. First released on Steam in 2021 and developed by Resolution Games, Demeo is cross-platform and available both in and out of VR. Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy's Edge Enhanced Edition and Demeo are in development for PS VR2 (Demeo will also be on PS5) and are scheduled to be released in 2023.

Like A Dragon: Ishin! is an action-adventure historical thriller set in 1860s Japan. Made by SEGA's RGG Studio, the team behind the Yakuza series, Like A Dragon: Ishin! is a remake of a Japanese-only game from 2014 and has been rebuilt from the ground up for modern hardware. Using fan-favorite Yakuza characters as stand-ins for historical figures, Like A Dragon: Ishin! tells the story of esteemed Samurai Sakamoto Ry?ma, a man who is "largely credited with overthrowing the shogunate and taking Japan into a radical reformation." He is, of course, played by the Dragon of Dojima himself Kazuma Kiruyu. Like A Dragon: Ishin! releases on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in February 2023.

The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop, a PlayStation-exclusive Hogwarts Legacy quest, was revealed with an eerie trailer. Hogwarts Legacy releases on February 10th 2023 on multiple consoles and you can find more details on The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest here.

On the topic of unnerving trailers, Pacific Drive, is the debut game of Seattle-based developers Ironwood StudiosThe year is 1955 and the US government has walled off part of the Pacific Northwest. This area, known as The Olympic Peninsula has become uninhabitable due to "severe radiation, environmental collapse, and supernatural horrors". Pacific Drive is very reminiscent of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series in its atmospheric environment and mission to survive in an irradiated Zone full of strange anomalies, but what makes Pacific Drive unique is the importance placed on the protagonist's station wagon. This "car is your lifeline: scavenge resources to maintain and improve your car [and] as long as you keep it running, it will protect you from the surrounding dangers." Pacific Drive is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC in 2023.

Synduality is a mech-based dystopian adventure game by Bandai Namco. The new IP is a third-person shooter that sees the player and an AI partner working together to help humanity survive poisonous rain and deformed creatures. The game will ask questions about humanity's relationship with artificial intelligence as humans have been driven beneath the Earth's surface into an underground settlement called Amasia, coming into contact with an Artificial Intelligence called Magus in the process. With Magus by your side, the main goal is to use a mech called a Cradle Coffin to gather rare AO crystals from the planet's surface; as you mine this precious resource beware as other players and monstrous creatures may try to stop you in this PvPvE world. Synduality will release in 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Stellar Blade| Project Eve| Shift Up Corp.| PlayStation 5 Exclusive| PlayStation 5| PlayStation| Sony Entertainment| State of Play| All The Games Revealed At Sony's State of Play

Originally referred to as Project Eve, Stellar Blade is an upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive. Made by Korean studio Shift Up Corp. Stellar Blade follows Eve and her team as they try and defend Xion, Earth's last remaining city, and encounter a mysterious survivor called Adam. The melee-based combat will focus on deflecting and evading as Eve faces an assortment of monsters called the NA:tives and fight an array of large, biomechanical foes. Stellar Blade releases 2023 exclusively on the PlayStation 5.

The second PlayStation 5 exclusive of the show was Rise of the Ronin, a new action RPG from Team Ninja. As western influence infiltrates the land and the Tokugawa Shogunate and Anti-Shogunate factions fight a bloody civil war, a lone Ronin forges his path through the Bakumatsu period. Interestingly, both Rise of the Ronin and Like A Dragon: Ishin! are set in the Bakumatsu period, a time that Fumihiko Yasuda (Director and President of Team Ninja) describes as "the most critical revolution in the history of Japan". Comparisons between the two games are inevitable, but Rise of the Ronin's darker tone, multilayered story, and Team Ninja's commitment to telling even "the darkest and ugliest chapters" of the era may give the game a unique voice. Rise of the Ronin releases in 2024 exclusively for the PlayStation 5.

Finally, last but not least the State of Play ended with a new story trailer for God of War: Ragnaröand the unveiling of a limited edition God of War: Ragnarök-themed DualSense controller. The controller is blue and white with a pair of howling wolves on the touchpad, the color scheme likely represents the Fimbulwinter, an ice age that precedes the Norse apocalypse. As for the trailer itself and things are not looking good for Kratos and Atreus in Santa Monica Studios' upcoming sequel. The boy is beginning to display powers and keep secrets, while the Ghost of Sparta clashes with Thor, the God of Thunder in an epic dual. Both God of War Ragnarök (on PS4 and PS5) and its themed DualSense controller release on November 9th, 2022.
