Sad News for Silksong Fans

There has been much anticipation about Hollow Knight: Silksong, with many players eagerly waiting for the game to be released. However, it would seem that things haven't gone according to plan. Recently the developers of Hollow Knight: Silksong, Team Cherry, shared on their social media that there may have been some unforeseen circumstances regarding the development of the sequel to the popular Metroidvania, Hollow Knight.

 

Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced on 14 February 2019, much to the excitement of many fans of the first game, which was a smash hit. Despite how highly anticipated the game is, Team Cherry has revealed almost nothing about the game, except what we see in the game's trailers and promo images. While keeping everything under close wraps has prevented the game from being leaked, it has left many players in the dark about Silksong's development. However, it seems that Team Cherry has finally taken to social media to update fans about what is happening regarding the sequel and its development.

Matthew Griffin, who is the person handling PR and marketing for Team Cherry has recently made a tweet, sharing some news that may leave quite a few fans disappointed. The news that Griffin shared is in regards to the game and its release date, in the post he shared that the team had initially hoped to release Silksong within the first half of 2023, but with the game still actively being developed, the team has decided not to go through with their initial plan and has instead decided to delay the game further. However, Griffin then goes on to reassure fans that the development is still ongoing and that fans will not have to worry about the project being spontaneously canned. He says that the team is super excited to share what they have prepared for players in the Hollow Knight sequel.

While players' fears have been put to rest, and we know that the sequel is still being developed, that still doesn't answer the biggest question, when will players finally be able to play Hollow Knight: Silksong? We now know that the team was originally hoping for an early 2023 release but we aren't told when the new release date will be. The replies to Matthew Griffin's tweet are mainly fans inquiring about a new release date but it would seem that Griffin is equally as tight-lipped as Silksong's developers themselves.

At least fans can rest easy knowing that the game is still in development but they'll just have to wait a bit longer. Matthew Griffin did say that more information about Hollow Knight: Silksong will be shared at a later date, so stay tuned for more news.
