As to be expected, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, is once again trolling poor social media users. This time around, it would seem that he is challenging fans of Mortal Kombat to try and figure out which ideas for Mortal Kombat 1 are true or which ones are just him doing his usual shenanigans. While Boon is pretty active on social media, it would seem that he has been spending the better part of 2023 dropping hints as to what NetherRealm has in-store for fans of Mortal Kombat and Injustice.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be the second time the series has been rebooted, the first time being 2011's Mortal Kombat. Considering that the ultra-violent game series has been around for well over 30 years, Boon has decided to share some of the many wild concepts and ideas that NetherRealm had for the game series. Mortal Kombat 1 will follow the new timeline that was created by Fire God Liu Kang at the end of Mortal Kombat 11's story.
As to be expected, many of the series' longtime characters are set to return in the reboot, but due to it being set in an alternative timeline, many of these characters have gone through drastic changes, such as with the characters Scorpion and Sub-Zero, who are now brothers in Mortal Kombat 1. Players will also have the option of Kameo characters, which will provide assistance during the player's match.
Mortal Kombat 1 was first shown off during the PlayStation Showcase that happened back in May, and to the surprise of many players, the game is set to release in September 2023. Due to how short the period of time between the announcement and release of the game, we have already learned plenty about it, such as new story mode, and more gameplay additions like deadly air combos.
Despite this, fans are still eager to learn more about the game, and it would seem that Ed Boon is very well aware of this and has decided to have some fun with trolling fans. In a new Twitter game that Boon had dubbed "Truth or Troll", Ed gave players a series of 10 questions, all relating to Mortal Kombat 1. Users would have to then decide whether what was being said was the truth or not.
Many of these questions were humorous and were obviously not meant to be taken seriously, such as Puzzle Kombat from Mortal Kombat: Deception will be returning. Other questions played on ideas that have long been demanded by fans such as the fan favorite Animalities from Mortal Kombat 3.
