The anticipation surrounding the release of Grand Theft Auto VI seems to be heating up, no thanks to Rockstar which seems to actively be adding fuel to the fire, especially with the most recent update to Grand Theft Auto Online. Grand Theft Auto VI was first announced on 23 October 2022, and Rockstar has ever since, remained incredibly tight lipped about the entire game. However, we do know that the game is in a playable state no thanks to a notorious leak that showed gameplay footage of an early build of the game.
Now, considering the amount of hype surrounding the game, rumors and theory are bound to happen, but the leak was able to shine some light on what we can expect from the game. We know that the game will be set in Vice City and will feature both a male and female protagonist, a first for the series which up until this point, has featured almost exclusively male protagonists. Due to these leaks coming from an early build of the game, it's yet to be seen if any of these features will be present in the final version of the game, we don't even have official confirmation from Rockstar as to what will be in the game, as there isn't even a trailer for it yet.
Fans have been hungry for any information surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI and now it would seem that Rockstar is finally feeding them. The most recent update for Grand Theft Auto Online has seemingly teased the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. In the update, Rockstar lists all the events that players can expect, including a special reward to celebrate the moon festival if players log in this week, they will be rewarded with a free Red Happy Moon t-shirt. However, many keen-eyed fans noticed that the image that was shared about the t-shirt shows two characters standing in front of the Vinewood sign. Coincidentally, they cut off most of the letters, only leaving "VI", the Roman numeral for 6. While this is all currently all speculation, the use of "VI" is definitely suspicious.
If this does indeed turn out to be hinting at the next entry in The Grand Theft Auto franchise, it is an incredibly blatant hint from Rockstar. Many fans have speculated that the image could be hinting at a possible trailer being dropped sometime in Fall. This would make sense as it is rumored that the game is set to release sometime in 2024. Once again, this is all speculation until we receive official confirmation and fans shouldn't get their hopes up.
