Batman: Arkham Knight Rated M
You must be 17 or older to purchase Batman: Arkham Knight
News by Grayshadow on Feb 25, 2015
If you’re under the age of 17 and want to purchase Batman: Arkham Knight you better bring a parent or Guardian because the game has been issued an “M for Mature” rating. This marks the first game in the trilogy to receive this rating whereas the two previous games, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, were both rated “T for Teen” ratings.
The ESRB has yet to publish the content description for Arkham Knight that would inform purchasers of why the game is rated M.
Despite this game director of Arkham Knight and founder of Rocksteady Studios, Sefton Hill, was surprised that his game was giving the M rating. Hill acknowledges that Arkham Knight will receive the M rating when it’s finally released”
“I’m not blind to the face that [the M rating] does mean some fans will miss out” he explained. “I Don’t want to be oblivious to that face. It would have been wrong to water down the game and deliver a story we didn’t believe in to keep the game ‘mass market’ or enable it for more people. We feel that’s the wrong way to go about it. We said we love the story and we don’t want to jeopardize that.”
“We’re not including gratuitous blood or swearing…We want to deliver a true end with no compromises, and it takes us to some dark places.”
Originally intended to release in 2014 Batman: Arkham Knight launches on June 2 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It’ll be the final game in the Batman Arkham series.
