The holidays are a time of rigorous spending for all, but Steam luckily limits the amount of funds people need to have, by offering a lot of temporary free deals. Roleplaying game (RPG) Sword Coast Legends is the next to be put in a free weekend, starting December 17, 2015.

Normally, the RPG would cost €39.99. In the announcement for the special event, however, it’s stated that Sword Coast Legends will be on sale for a limited time, bringing the price down to $19.99 or its local equivalent.

This is great news for fans of traditional RPGs who missed out on the game when it released in October. Its launch amidst titles like Tales of Zestiria, Rebel Galaxy, Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide , a new Overlord, but also the culmination of Life is Strange and Tales from the Borderlands may have had a lot of eyes pass the title up for other games. Sword Coast Legends is branded with the famous Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) sticker, in association with Wizards of the Coast. Additionally, people who previously worked on Dragon Age: Origins are part of the development team.

Still, despite using the Forgotten Realms as a base, the game initially missed its mark with players and critics alike, with several complaints finding the adventure blander than expected. Not even the backing of Warframe publisher Digital Extremes significantly helped. To date, Sword Coast Legends comes in at a mediocre 61 Metacritic rating and, according to Steamspy, only between 70,000 and 80,000 units of the RPG have been sold.

Since launch, the game has received a few free updates that added content, such as a new race, abilities and so on. There is also a Dungeon Master mode included, for those who really want to bring home that traditional roleplaying feeling.

Here’s hoping you enjoy Sword Coast Legends for what it is. Happy holidays!
