Yaga Is An Upcoming Action RPG That Takes Inspiration From Slavic Folklore
Yaga tells the tale of Ivan, a one-handed blacksmith.

Ivan is a blacksmith caught between a demanding tzar, a manipulative witch, and his grandmother who just wants to see him get married like a good man. To make matters worse, he's also one-handed, although the fact that he can attach giant claws and crossbows to his hand does offset that a bit. It's his shoes that upcoming Action RPG Yaga, developed by Romanian studio Breadcrumbs Interactive, will have us fill.
"When we started brainstorming for ideas for a new game, we decided to mix our love for roguelikes with our love for narrative and choice based games. Then memories of fairy tales that brightened our childhoods started flowing - magical, charming, gloomy or funny, scary, moody, surprising or cruel. These were not your regular tales of Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood, but of Baba Yaga the witch, Koschei the Immortal and Vasilisa the Beautiful. Thus, Breadcrumbs was born to lead players into these worlds, and we decided Yaga would be our first game. With each piece of code, with each sketch and each brushstroke we felt our vision coming to life and we hope our passion managed to seep its way inside the game as well."
Pagan beliefs and superstitions are at home in Yaga's charming, Slavic folklore-inspired world. The way you roleplay Ivan will influence his reputations with others, yielding different reactions from them and bestowing game-changing blessings or curses upon the hero. There will be talismans and artifacts to combine in order to change Ivan's abilities but also weapons and tools to craft. In between levels players will also be able to influence the level of difficulty and how levels are generated.
You'll find more screnshots and gifs, as well as a comic detailing how Ivan became a one-handed blacksmith, on the game's website or on its Steam page. Yaga is set to release sometime in 2019 on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
