8-bit Halo!

In the recent times, old-school systems have been getting more attention in an attempt at “retro revival”. After an actual new game being released on NES, there are also a lot of demakes making their entry in the game world. A demake is a remade version of a known game but on an ancient and less-capable system, such as the 8-bit Nintendo or Atari 2600.

This time around a remake of Halo was produced on Atari 2600, called Halo 2600 and was created by none other than Ed Fries himself! This former Microsoft Vice President started his programming days at Atari and returned to his roots by creating an impressive new game for the 2600 system.

With just 4K of memory space, Halo 2600 manages to offer an impressive 64 screens with different environments and power-ups. More so; the man actually released hard copies of the game at the Classic Gaming Expo last weekend.

If you’ve missed out on getting one of the 500 exclusive copies, don’t fret. A flash version of the game has been released for free and is playable at codemystics.com.

Now, yours truly is only waiting on Starcraft II being remade for SNES! One can only hope.
