Anthem has had a difficult launch and reception. With numerous technical bugs and lots of mediocre busy work making up most of the missions, BioWare's latest game has not been performing well. However, it seems that the game may have a serious issue with gamers reporting that their systems are being bricked.

So far most of the accounts are focused on the PS4 version of the game but stories of similar issues happening to Xbox One are also making their ways around social media. According to the official forms “The console powers down and will not power on using the normal method of pressing the PS4 button on the controller...It is the same as if someone pulled the plug without properly shutting the hardware down or if the power went out in the house. Sometimes the button on the front of the console works, other times I have to unplug the console then plug it back in.”

Over on the subreddit user TheMadTitanGuantlet “PSA to any Anthem players on Playstation that experience complete shut downs of their consoles: STOP PLAYING!...My playstation has been completely bricked to the point of not even turning on because of Anthem.”

EA posted on their official Twitter account:

We’re aware of a crashing issue some of you have been reporting for #AnthemGame. We’re investigating and ask that you share your crash data reports when prompted. If you have, we’ll be reaching out to gather info; if not, please reply to this thread on AHQ:https://t.co/36P21YFjYL

This will likely have a major impact on current and future players. As this story has become notorious among gamers and will likely convince many to stay away unless they wish to lose their console.

Anthem is now available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
