Battlefield 3 Open Beta Starts This Week

There probably isn't a single soul that enjoys shooting games in the slightest that isn't excited for this game. Be it on the consoles or on the almighty PC with its superior graphics and 64 players, everyone is trying to find a way to play it. And now everyone will get a taste of it and see if Battlefield 3's tactical, destructible, vehicle-based gameplay is their cup of tea.

Starting September 29 (27 for those who already pre-purchased the game), the open beta will feature one map (Operation Métro, set in the streets and underground of Paris) and one game mode (Rush, where one team must defend bomb points while the other tries to set explosives on them). All unlockables will be available to unlock, and while you won't get to bring those to the full game when it's out, you get to keep your username (and the combat experience from playing hours and hours of it, unless you suffer some grave head injury between the end of the beta and the release).

For the next couple weeks, this will be on most gamers' TVs and/or monitors.

The beta is open to all, available on all systems BF3 is getting a release on (X360, PS3, PC), and will end on October 10. Battlefield is scheduled for a release on October 25. For more info on the beta, check the official Battlefield 3 Beta page.
