Blood Message looks like it will be one of the most interesting single-player AAA stories set to release soon. This big action-adventure game was made by 24 Entertainment, the same company that made Naraka: Bladepoint. Instead of taking place in a fantasy world, the story takes place in the late Tang Dynasty (848 AD), at the height of the Shatuo (Sha Zhou) uprising.
This period of time is rarely explored, but it has a lot of emotional and political turmoil that makes it a great setting for a story-driven experience that combines movie storytelling with intense gameplay. At the start of the story, an unnamed main character is looking for his son Ning, who has left to join the Shatuo resistance against the Tibetans who are taking over Chinese land. Because General Zhang Yichao is becoming more and more successful, the political tides start to turn in favor of the Tang.

The main character is then given the dangerous job of bringing a message of hope to the capital. This story arc, based on real historical records, makes the experience feel more real by making clear connections to the stories of famous wartime messengers. According to historical records, only one of the ten teams of messengers sent to tell General Zhang that they had won made it back alive. This detail could help with both the mystery of why the main character is unknown and the importance of his task.
Blood Message has both a small and a large size. Players move through a wide range of biomes, such as dry deserts, icy mountains, ruined tombs, and war-torn towns. Each biome is full of dangers, puzzles, and challenges for moving around. The story is very important to the game, and its linear framework makes it similar to Uncharted and The Last of Us. Even though the settings aren't completely open-world, the handcrafted level design lets for carefully planned set pieces that build up emotional moments and keep the story moving forward.
The game is mostly about dangerously moving around, solving puzzles in the surroundings, and heavy-handed fighting. The player almost never goes by himself. Allies are very important on the trip, both in terms of the story and the gameplay. There is a mysterious female companion and a monk with superhuman strength who help get past problems and make the trip more interesting.
While stealth features like synchronized takedowns and silent eliminations are present, the fighting is raw, realistic, and brutally effective. Each fight feels unique, and enemies can be killed in a few hits based on your timing, positioning, and awareness. Finally, environmental interactivity adds another level of complexity. Finishers can change to fit nearby items, turning normal structures into deadly tools.
Modern story-heavy games like God of War have a lot to do with the father-son relationship at the heart of the game. In an early video, the main character begs Ning to stop what he sees as a suicide mission, which shows that they are having trouble getting along. But Ning says no, which sets the stage for a story of loss, struggle, and growth. Blood Message is more than just an action game due to its emotional stakes. Its goal is to show how strong family bonds can be in strange situations.

Even though the story is based on real events, the game is not like Souls. The design theory is more about making the game easy to play and fast-paced, like a movie, than making it too difficult. It is said that some of the developers formerly worked for Ubisoft. They have been working on this project in secret for about five years. This part of 24 Entertainment seems to be working on making an expensive, story-first experience that is different from their past games that were more focused on multiplayer.
There isn't an official release date yet, but experts like Daniel Ahmad think it will probably come out between late 2026 and early 2027. As soon as promotional materials and growth are well underway, people's hopes are quickly raised.
Not only does Blood Message stand out for its haunting setting and historical background, but it also does so for its visual ambition and emotional depth. It's not often that a game can offer both realistic gameplay and a big story. This game could change what players expect from action-adventure stories.
