FromSoftware thanked their fanbase for the support in this acclaimed franchise.

The DARK SOULS series has sold over 27 million units to date. We are incredibly grateful to every single one of our players. This success is owed to you. We hope you continue to enjoy our games, and look forward to Elden Ring, the new Action RPG that's currently in development.

Dark Souls was started by the PS3 exclusive Demon Souls before branching into its own franchise. The title was a critical and commercial success since the beginning. Offering an incredible dark fantasy adventure that challenged the player's mobility, preparation, and combat skills. The story itself was so complex that Bandai Namco offered a bounty to anyone who can explain the narrative.

Since then FromSoftware has moved on to other projects. The most recent being Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice which was a massive success both from critics and fans. Obtaining several 2019 Game of the Year awards. The studio is currently working on a new project called Elden Ring. This dark fantasy title was announced in 2019 and is being published by Bandai Namco, who published the Dark Souls franchise.
