With exactly one month to go until the highly anticipated release of Elden Ring Nightreign, momentum is building fast and not without reason. After a relatively quiet period following the closed network test, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are stepping up their marketing efforts, dropping both official and unintentional reveals that have the fanbase buzzing.
The most significant update came with the official unveiling of the final playable hero, a mysterious spirit user who had previously been leaked online. The Elden Ring Twitter account shared an image with the caption: "A restless soul cannot be soothed by anything less than vengeance," showing a ghostly figure clad in a white dress and veil, heavily adorned in jewelry, and appearing to be located in the Roundtable Hold.
After examination, it looks like she might be a doll, like Ranni in the main game. Her skin is cracked, and her fingers are mechanical, with two of them looking like they have claw-like attachments. The picture has an extra creepy touch of a skeletal hand reaching out from behind the mirror, which fits perfectly with what we know about the character's powers.
According to earlier leaks and now essentially confirmed, this new hero commands spirit ashes in combat. Players can summon multiple spirits simultaneously and even call upon a massive skeleton (akin to those summoned by Tibia Mariners), capable of unleashing devastating beam attacks. However, we still don't know the character's name or passive skills. She seems to be a support fighter who can take over the battlefield with strong calls and delays.
This reveal completes the lineup of eight heroes set to be available at launch: Wilder, Guardian, Duchess, Recluse, Raider, Iron Eye, the newly revealed spirit user, and a previously teased katana-wielding warrior with a parry-based playstyle. Initially seen in a trailer, that final character hasn't been formally named, but new information accidentally leaked by Bandai Namco points to the possible title "Exeutor."
A recent update to Bandai Namco's official site mistakenly mixed up character descriptions, revealing lines and icons that didn't match their respective classes. One such line described drawing an executive's blade that can deflect enemy attacks, clearly not an ability linked to the character it was assigned to.
This strongly suggests the katana-wielding figure specializes in parries that build up energy for counterattacks, hinting at a high-skill ceiling playstyle similar to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Further fueling excitement, FromSoftware is hosting two major events in Japan on May 6 (Tokyo) and May 10 (Osaka), offering attendees a chance to play the full version of Night Reign, including all eight characters. The event will feature concept art exhibitions, cosplay contests, and, notably, live gameplay sessions.
The Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring, a re-release designed for Nintendo Switch 2, will also be playable at the event. This version includes new armor and weapons, as well as added customization options for Torrent, the player's mount. It might not be possible to record games at the event, but reviews and breakdowns should be available online soon after. As the full launch draws near, these insights will probably help fans comprehensively understand each character's mechanics, how they work with others, and their skills and strengths.
With Elden Ring Night Reign approaching fast, this recent flood of information marks the start of FromSoftware's final push. Between confirmed leaks, character reveals, and the promise of full gameplay demos just days away, fans won't have to wait long for answers and possibly even more surprises. Therefore, as the full launch is almost here, the Lands Between is about to open once more.
