Nintendo is back with a whirlwind of anticipation for fans with its newest Indie World Showcase, a week after the July Direct.

A week after the latest Nintendo Direct that shone light on its third-party partners, Nintendo is back with a bang, this time with its Indie World Showcase; their focus shifted to some of the most sought-after indie titles set to launch on the Switch and Switch 2. If you weren’t live to witness the spectacle, we’ve got all bases covered for you, keeping you up to date on the latest Nintendo games that you would want to get your hands on.

The July Direct was a major turning point for the growing Nintendo empire. Although it brought fan-favorite titles to Switch and Switch 2, the aftermath that followed with the game key card controversy is one that cannot be taken lightly. Nintendo did backtrack, though, after backlash from fans and investors, since the plan to introduce game key cards in place of traditional cartridges was not met with a lot of love.

The July Direct notably skipped major titles like Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and even the Final Fantasy VII remake. So if you’re a fan of any of these titles, then the Nintendo Indie World Showcase streamed on August 7 will be another bummer for you. Let’s get started on the games announced for the Indie World Showcase.

Mina the Hollower

Kicking off the event was Yacht Club Games’ Mina the Hollower, which has long been in the works but is finally getting the limelight it deserves as it braces for an October 31, 2025, release on the Switch and Switch 2.

You’ll be starting your journey off as Mina, who’s tasked with saving a cursed island that follows a gothic horror theme, alongside a soundtrack that just itches your brain. The game is designed with a retro style of the Game Boy Color, but with modern tech, you can expect the unexpected. So prepare yourself to enter a world that will introduce you to characters you won’t be able to get your mind off.

Well Dweller

A new Metroidvania is on the horizon. In this world, you are Glimmer, a tiny bird equipped with a matchstick; you’ll be taking on an evil queen in a quest to save your family before they become part of the queen’s royal gown.

You’re not alone in this journey. Alongside fearsome foes, you’ll come across allies, such as Ilda, a tiny mouse, and a scavenger named Looter. The game, described as a dark fairytale Metroidvania from the developer Top Hat Games, sure does deserve a hatsoff.

The game does not have an official release date announced yet, but you can expect that Well Dweller will come to your Switch sometime next year.

Neverway

On first glance, it may look like your average farming sim, which it is somewhat, but with a dark twist you would not have expected. Fiona, our leading lady, will encounter a dead god whom she has to be the immortal herald of as she quits her job to start a farm.

It is familiar in the aspect that it functions like your typical dating NPCs, but what sets it apart is its twisted tale that follows the trope of a slow-burner horror, which we can expect will leave you shellshocked.

Neverway is yet to get an official release date, but as with Well Dweller, you can expect it to arrive in 2026 on your Switch.

Herdling

Now we move on to an Okomotive and Panic title. You guide and protect your herd of Calicorns as you traverse landscapes that have challenges in abundance for you.

Herdling focuses on survival more than anything. As you set foot on your Alpine expedition, prepare to come across puzzles to leave you bewildered and many other difficulties on your way to the summit that hides a mystery for you to seek out.

Herdling is going to hit the shelves on August 21, 2025.

Is This Seat Taken?

So for a puzzle aficionado, this is the place to be. The Wholesome Games title will task you with finding rooms for all the characters in a wide variety of settings, whilst catering to their pet peeves. Sounds fun? Yes, the premise does sound fun, but the game may leave you wanting to rip your hair out by the end of it.

You need to accommodate everybody. So make sure someone doesn’t fall next to a stinky neighbor instead of a “girl next door.” The game won’t trap you in any leaderboards, but rather just has fun puzzles that have a unique twist to them. The game was released on the day of the Indie World Showcase.

Content Warning

No, no, no! Not our content. Nintendo’s Content Warning. The game’s already out on Steam, but brace yourselves to have it on your Switch and Switch 2 next year.

In this co-op game, you’ll be amongst a group of friends who film spooky things in an attempt to go viral on Spööktube, the game’s very own YouTube, while you try to be its Ryan and Shane; if you know, you know.

Only the most viral content will be getting sponsorships, so make your mark and go viral whilst encountering scary monsters and ghosts; that’s basically a simplified explanation of what the game might have in store for you.

So, before Content Warning comes out, we are warning you that you’re in for a ride that will give you the chills.

Ultimate Sheep Raccoon

Ultimate Sheep Raccoon will have you dying of laughter, or maybe even smashing your Switch screens in rage. The game lets you build levels as you play with friends to make your very own American Ninja Warrior-like obstacle courses with ramps and bouncy pads.

You’re playing as a horde of different barnyard animals, including, as the game title may suggest, a sheep and a raccoon. So tune in to Ultimate Sheep Raccoon this winter, but remember to involve your friends for the chaos that unravels as you race bikes with power-ups and an equally chaotic soundtrack.

Glaciered

Imagine yourself 65 million years from now. Can’t? Don’t worry, Glaciered is here to do exactly that for you. So 65 million years later, in the Glaciered universe, the world as we know it is frozen, with marine life still managing to flourish.

You play as a Tuai, a species that has evolved from birds. Quite the contrast to the apes we’ve evolved from. But nonetheless, you are tasked to protect the Everwinter, with the help of avian and dinosaur bloodlines in the Tuai. The game basically throws you into an Ice Age, but underwater. Fittingly, the game will come out in the winter of 2025, only on your Switch 2.
