A possible update could enable gamers to stream content they already own without requiring a subscription.

Fans are buzzing with excitement because Sony may be getting ready to release a game-changing update for the PlayStation Portal. According to sources, there is evidence suggesting that users may soon be able to stream games other than those included with PlayStation Plus Premium through the PS Portal.

If this is accurate, Sony's portable device may advance significantly, evolving from a specialized remote player to a complete portable method of accessing your game collection.

Currently, the PS Portal's primary issue is that it requires either a PlayStation 5 console or a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription to stream games from the cloud, similar to the growing interest in 10 ponds deposit casinos non GamStop. Users can already stream games from Sony's subscription catalog. Still, they can't stream games they bought that aren't part of the Premium lineup.

But that might not be the case for long. A Reddit user with good eyesight saw that the PlayStation Store had changed the wording to say, "Buy this game and then stream and play it right away on PS or PS5 only with PlayStation Plus Premium."  Some people think that Sony might be preparing to lift some long-standing restrictions due to this minor change in the text.

If this update goes live, it would mean a big change in how Sony streams content. PS Portal users can play their purchased games directly through the cloud, rather than just streaming them, by paying for a subscription to the streaming infrastructure.

The move would dramatically expand the Portal's utility, allowing players to access a broader range of titles without needing them to be specifically tied to the PlayStation Plus catalog. It would also make the device much more appealing to gamers who have a lot of digital games.

Sony's recent initiatives to enhance its cloud infrastructure and explore new streaming techniques are ideally suited for this potential expansion. PlayStation has enhanced the stability of its streaming service and gradually expanded its cloud library with additional games over the past year.

As the next step, the rumored update makes sense. It makes it difficult to distinguish between console gaming and fully portable gaming. The PS Portal could soon become the must-have device for people who love to play games anywhere.

However, Sony hasn't made an official announcement yet. The "accidental" leak might have come out too soon, which could mean that the company is testing the waters before making an official announcement.

People are already speculating whether this could arrive with a February update, given Sony's history of making surprise improvements. This would be one of the most user-friendly updates Sony has made in years if it does. It would reward loyal players instead of putting them behind another paywall.

Now the question is: will Sony really let you stream your own library, or will this look into the future disappear as quickly as it came?
