Updated List of Nintendo Switch 2 Games with Backward Compatibility

Nintendo released a comprehensive list of all the games that are incompatible with the Switch 2.

Backward compatibility is a major concern nowadays. As gamers become more invested in one gaming environment, they often desire to move their games and save data to another platform, which was once considered an innovative element.

When it debuts in June, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be generally compatible with games that were previously released for the original Switch. At the same time, Nintendo and its partners are fixing issues with various titles so that they can run on the new system.

Nintendo Switch 2 Games with Backward Compatibility

Earlier this month, Nintendo released a comprehensive list of all the games that are incompatible with the Switch 2. Stumble Guys and Dead by Daylight are two of the live-service games that made the cut. Fortnite's inclusion on the list is also noteworthy.

The official website has updated the list, and it has been confirmed that "a Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned" for Fortnite. It is unclear if this version will be ready for launch, but maybe Nintendo and Epic Games will take care of it shortly.

On the list of games with backward compatibility issues, Nintendo has updated not only Fortnite but also another game. The issue here is Fitness Boxing, the pilot exercise game developed by Nintendo and Imagineer. It was said that the first game had some issues, but the sequels don't seem to have any issues on Nintendo Switch 2.

So far, Nintendo has stated that "an update will fix this." Fitness Boxing appears to be compatible with the new Joy-Cons, which is a positive development. While this may be the case for most Switch games, some, such as Ring Fit Adventure and Nintendo Switch Sports, require the original controllers.

The arrival of Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th should significantly increase the number of backward compatibility issues resolved. As we can see with Fortnite, it's very uncommon for developers to choose to release new versions of their games, even when we expect existing ones to fix certain issues.

Also, with so much riding on live-service games, companies would do well to have something up and running on Switch 2 as soon as possible. It might end up being helpful, considering the performance issues we've seen on Switch with games like Fortnite and Dead by Daylight.
