We are now just three months away from that holiest of ceremonies for all gamers – E3. The festivities kick off on June 5 and run through until June 7 – and will feature all the hotly anticipated games we can look forward to in the coming year.

One that we’re tipping to go places here at NoobFeed is the currently untitled sci-fi shooter that Respawn Entertainment is working on. Very few details are known at this point, but the project is being run by two very accomplished people – Jason West and Vince Zampella – who helped create a little series known as Call of Duty.

The pair left Infinity Ward a couple of years back after a dispute in the share of royalties and proceeded to take around forty members of the team along with them. This same team has now been working around the clock on a futuristic shooter that they hope can rival the goliath they helped create.

It’s likely that the upcoming title will come head-to-head with the new Call of Duty – rumoured to be Black Ops 2 - come Christmas time, with both vying for top spot in the charts. However, while the guys at Respawn may have the experience they don’t currently have the pulling power and it will take a fair amount of advertising, PR and hype to achieve such a feat.

Further rumours suggest that the recently jobless Robert Bowling, who announced his decision to leave Infinity Ward earlier in the week, may now join them and look after the multiplayer aspects of the game. Being a former creative strategist and community figure head to the Call of Duty series he is well equipped to take on a more hands-on role.

One of the suggested reasons for his departure was his inability to get what he felt were key improvements to the game pushed through fast enough. He constantly tweeted about the power struggle between various parties all thinking they knew best.

If they do manage to acquire his services then it will be full steam ahead for the new developer, and with such a plethora of talent on board it can only mean good times ahead for us gamers.

  • It's not going to be easy to come up with something that surpasses Call of Duty. It's not just the brains behind any title; financial ability does play a big role as righty mentioned by Craig.
