The latest firmware update for Sony’s PlayStation 3 console is now available, and it brings with it a few new features that PS3 fans should get excited for.

One feature is cloud storage, a feature PS3 fans have been waiting for some time for. Available only to PlayStation Plus subscribers, this new feature gives subscribers up to 150mb of cloud storage. Although that doesn’t sound like very much, game saves aren’t terribly large and 150mb is enough to hold a fair amount of them.

A small but nice feature included in the update is the option for users to set controller timeouts. This means that users can set a timeout of say 20 minutes of inactivity before the system automatically shuts down.

Firmware 3.60 also includes some beefed up security, which comes as no surprise considering all of the hacking problems Sony has been having recently. According to some reports from various PS3 hackers, the security architecture has been completely changed making the system secure again.

Firmware 3.60 for PS3 is available now and is a mandatory update, so if you haven’t got it yet you should see a prompt sometime soon.

  • I love it when they do crazy updates like these... i love it because i enjoying seeing how long it takes those overly intelligent hackers to crack the system open and say "who's your daddy!?"

I am a fan of piracy (kinda have to seeing as to where i live lol) but i can honestly say that the only system i have ever hacked is my psp and even though my friends keep saying to do it, i have never hacked any of my bigger consoles and stuff and will never do it!
