Strike a drumroll for the most horrible headline of 2011. Anyway, Capcom issued an apology to anyone waiting on the now canceled Mega Man Universe, which was due later this year on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network.
Mega Man was originally a hardcore horror game.
Their official website for the title (crappy translation ensues) states “circumstances” to lead to the cancelation of this reformation of Mega Man 2 levels, but doesn’t state anything specific. Universe was going to feature custom characters, such as the awful Mega Man box art dude, together with user-created levels; which already sounded too good to be true.
Since Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune left Capcom late last year, one could wonder if that departure also lead to issues within the world of the robot boy wonder. For now, we can all mourn the loss of yet another promising title.
