In the game 1348 Ex Voto, you play as Aeta, a heroine who travels across the Spanish countryside. The epidemic, robbers, and dishonest knights make the world a harsh place. You will need to get good at swordplay and managing your items to finish your vow. This guide will help you understand how to use your skills and find the best upgrades to stay alive. By following these steps, you can turn a difficult journey into a successful mission.

Explore the Linear Paths

Even though the game has nine chapters that feel linear, you can find alternate paths. You should look down every road you see before you go toward the main objective. The game hides useful items like Trinkets and Weapon Upgrades away from the primary route. You can find things like Pommels, Guards, and Handles if you take the time to look around. Exploring also lets you see the scenery of the countryside while you search for these rewards.

Eating to Restore Health

You do not have traditional healing items in this world. Instead, you restore your health by eating Meat, Cheese, and Fruit. You press the Square button to eat during a battle, but you must collect the food from the environment first. Aeta will say something when your pockets are full, so you should heal and pick up more food whenever you can. If you die in a fight, you restart with full health. This means you can choose to let your character die to save your food for later.

Using the Skill Tree

The game has a Skill Tree with four branches that you should check often. You need to collect Pieces of Paper from the world to buy new skills. The game does not remind you to use these, so you must open the pause menu yourself. Upgrading these branches adds new Combo Strings and lets you carry more food. These skills make Aeta stronger and improve how much health she has during her journey.

Managing Combat and Guard Meters

Every enemy and boss has a Guard Meter above their head. You need to hit them until this meter is empty so they become vulnerable to your attacks. Once the gauge is down, deal as much damage as you can before it refills. You can use different stances and sword options to break these meters faster. Paying attention to this gauge is the key to winning almost every fight you encounter.

Changing Your Combat Stance

You can switch between different ways of holding your sword to fit the battle. If you hold the left shoulder button, you use a Two-Handed Stance for heavy hits and finishing attacks. This stance also lets you block and parry strikes. Using the right shoulder button lets you do One-Handed Attacks, which are faster. This makes it easier to dodge attacks that cannot be blocked. You should change your stance based on the types of enemies you are fighting.

Learning Perfect Attacks

You learn about Perfect Attacks early in the game, and you should use them often. You do these by timing your button presses exactly when an attack lands. Your sword will glow with a golden light when you do it right. These attacks can break a Guard Meter in a few seconds. They also stop enemies from hitting you back. If you stay calm and time your strikes, even hard bosses become much easier to beat.

Customizing Your Sword and Trinkets

There are several items you may use to improve your sword, such handles and blades. Some areas are better for one-handed attacks, while others are better for two-handed attacks. You may locate pieces that work for both methods later in the game. Trinkets are also highly essential since they give you extra abilities.

Some people may automatically use your food when you die or kill adversaries in one hit. One helpful Trinket gives you health back after you do a Perfect Dodge. Try out various combinations to see which one works best for your style of play. Before you confront a boss, be sure to change your gear. If you die during the fight, any adjustments you made will not be saved.
