Black Desert Guide | How to Increase Character Progression

When you start your first character in Black Desert, your main goal is to finish the story. You should open your quest log by pressing O, then filter by Type to find Black Spirit tasks. 

If you stay on this path until you hit level 56, you will have a good grasp of how the game works in Black Desert.

Rewards and Account Progress

Following the story helps you unlock items that make the game easier. You will get more Inventory slots and a Tier 5 Horse to help you travel. 

The game also gives you Pets that pick up loot, so you do not have to do it yourself. You will earn Contribution Points, which let you hire Workers or invest in Nodes. The quests also give you all the Armor and Accessories you need to keep moving forward.

Important People to Visit

You will need to talk to a few specific NPCs as you play. The Marketplace Director is where you go to buy Food or Gear. You can also use this person to move items between your different characters. 

Visit a Storage Keeper if you have items that cannot go on the market, but you still want to give them to an alt. If your mount is tired, find a Stable Keeper to fix your Horse in Black Desert.

Managing Your Equipment

You do not need to worry about buying expensive items early on. The Main Questline hands out almost every piece of Gear that you require to level up. This allows you to save your Silver for later.

Using Your Time Efficiently

Travel can take a while in this world. While your character is moving on its own to a new spot, you can open the Central Market to look at prices. You can also use that time to read up on other parts of the game in Black Desert.
