FANTASIAN Neo Dimension is the long-awaited rebirth of a long-hidden treasure developed by Mistwalker and published by Square Enix. This RPG is directly helmed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the legendary creator of Final Fantasy. This beginner's guide aims to help you get the best possible start in the game.
Hold on Purchasing Weapons
At the start of FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, resist the urge to purchase weapons. Instead, aim to acquire the Knight Sword for Leo, which will serve you well for the first few hours. To obtain it, follow these steps:
Progress to the first town and locate a locked chest in the left corner of the square.
Obtain an Iron Key before an early boss fight. After you recruit Kina, accept a side quest from a woman looking for her missing son.
Find the boy behind Ken’s house and choose the following dialogue options:
- "Your mother is looking for you."
- "Your mother is crying for you."
- "How could you make her cry like that?"
Return to the mother for your reward – the Iron Key.
Use the key to unlock the chest in the town square to claim the Knight Sword.
This weapon far outclasses others available early on, so prioritize this chest over others.
Swap Lead Characters
In FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, you can freely change the lead character in your party. Open the menu and swap Leo with any other character once they join your team. This small feature adds variety and personality to exploration. While the game may reset Leo as the lead after story moments, you can easily switch back.
Combat Aim Precision
Combat in FANTASIAN Neo Dimension can be mastered by striking multiple enemies at once through pin-pointed attacks, creating some really thrilling strategic moments.
For example, when Leo gets his attacks in a straight line, Kina and all those who use magic can launch some curves and get the enemy even without being in the line of combat. Fine-tune the aim by pushing the analog stick fully in the desired direction and then just slightly nudge it in either the left or right direction for angle adjustment. This method works perfectly well, whether going up or down.
Perfecting this skill might give you the maximum damage against many enemies instead of just focusing on one single target, thus making every strike feel worth making.
Optimal Buff Strategy
During dimengeon battles, prioritize buffs to maximize efficiency:
- Yellow Buff: Attack boost.
- Blue Buff: Steal a turn.
Focus on the blue buff, especially when an enemy's turn is approaching. Stealing a turn gives your team an edge, allowing you to land extra damage or prevent enemy actions. Monitor enemy health via their name color:
- Yellow: Critical state.
- Red: Near defeat (1-2 hits).
Movement Tips
The game’s fixed camera angles can cause movement issues. When transitioning to a new area, reset your analog stick to neutral before continuing. Failing to do so can result in inaccurate movement due to mismatched input. While not game-breaking, it’s a noticeable inconvenience.
Target Boss Limbs
For bosses with targetable limbs, focus on these first. Destroying limbs can reduce their damage output, limit their turns, and prevent devastating attacks. This tactic is crucial, especially on harder difficulties.
Fast Travel for Story Progression
Stuck on a main quest? Use the game’s built-in fast travel feature. Open the menu, select the current quest, and choose to warp directly to your next destination. This saves time and eliminates confusion when backtracking.
Prioritize Funi Enemies
In new areas, look out for Funi Enemies. These creatures drop jewels, which can be valuable in future encounters. Prioritize defeating them whenever possible to stockpile resources.
FANTASIAN Neo Dimension offers a unique blend of classic RPG mechanics with innovative twists. Armed with these tips, enjoy exploring its world, mastering its combat, and experiencing its enchanting story and music.
