Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Guide | How to find the Revolver

The Revolver is one of the most wanted weapons in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days. It gives you a reliable ranged option when close fights get risky. It isn't random when you get it, but there is a small chain of finds that you need to make first in order to get it. 

To get to the revolver, you first need to unlock Old Ballard. In the attic, you will find a key tip that can open Hardwick's Trailer.

Why the Revolver Is Worth Getting Early

The Revolver makes scavenging runs safer because it lets you deal with enemies from a distance when stealth breaks. The nice part is that this route also gives you more gear, so you can improve your loadout in one trip. If you pilfer wisely, you can depart with a Revolver, a Combat Knife, a Machete, and Revolver Ammo.

Step 1: Unlock Old Ballard From a Starting Location

You need to be able to get to Old Ballard first in order to receive the Revolver. You can go to Old Ballard from the tutorial-style sections and from the early starting places. 38 Irving Drive is a good site to unlock it. It's in the early trail and is a typical unlock point for Old Ballard.

Step 2: Reach the Attic and Trigger the Secret Ladder

When you get into Old Ballard, keep going up until you get to the top. Key step: activate a secret shortcut. You need to activate the secret ladder near the top area and then push your way into the attic. This is where the key clue can be found, and if you miss it, you won't be able to take the Revolver way.

Step 3: Collect the Screwed-Up Note to Reveal Hardwick's Trailer

In the attic, you will find the Screwed-Up Note. This note is the unlock that points you toward Hardwick's Trailer, which is the real destination for the Revolver. Make sure the note is collected before leaving Old Ballard, because it is the trigger that makes the trailer route possible.

Step 4: Move Operations to Harshaw for the Trailer Run

After the Screwed-Up Note unlocks the location, shift your approach to Harshaw. A practical staging spot is Texway Gas (Hart St.), since it keeps you close to the area tied to Hardwick's Trailer. 

You do not need heavy gear for this run, but it helps to bring a quiet melee tool like Scissors, or any stealth-friendly weapon you trust.

Step 5: Clear Hardwick's Trailer and Find the Hidden Bunker Entrance

Hardwick's Trailer is simple once you know what to expect. There are no roaming zombies inside the trailer itself, but there is one hostile person who will attack on sight. Move slowly and stay quiet as you enter. 

A zombie may be stuck in a lower area nearby, but it is not the main problem. Finding the secret entryway is the most important thing. Once you have the Journal that shows you the Bunker, follow the reveal and go down into the secret area.

Step 6: Eliminate Hardwick Immediately and Loot the Revolver

The hostile NPC in the bunker area is Hardwick, and he should be dealt with right away. If Hardwick spots you, he becomes aggressive instantly. Even if he pleads, he remains a threat, so do not hesitate once you commit to the fight. 

After Hardwick is down, search the containers in the bunker area. The Revolver is inside one of them, and the same loot sweep can also reward a Combat Knife, a Machete, and 4 Rounds of Revolver Ammo.
