Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Guide | How to Beat the Masked Monster

A fast, simple strategy to defeat the concrete-masked brute in The Depths.

The Masked Monster lurks in the darkest parts of The Depths, where toxic sludge, spike traps, and other creatures make every step dangerous. This huge, fleshy enemy carries a dagger, hides its face behind a solid concrete mask, and grips it with small arms.

It stays mostly silent. It shrugs off normal damage. If it grabs you, it hurls you across the room. The key is to bait its unblockable attack, then turn its power against it. Time a precise dodge into the red flash to swap places and expose its weak point. Strike fast, then decide whether to finish the fight or push deeper into The Depths.

Where You Encounter the Masked Monster

You meet this foe in the eerie lower zones of The Depths, a place with cursed vibes. The layout funnels you through hazards like sludge and spikes while the Masked Monster patrols corridors. The arena is tight, so spacing matters. Keep a clear line to move through the enemy after the swap.

Know the Enemy’s Traits

The Masked Monster looks unsettling, with open sores across its body and a heavy mask that never slips. Regular strikes do nothing. Ranged pokes also fail.

The creature ignores chip damage and blocks your path. When it manages to catch you, it does not flail or roar. It simply slams you away and resets the space. Treat it like a living wall that only opens under one condition.

How to Trigger the Swap

Wait for the red flash that marks an unblockable attack. Do not back away. Dodge into the attack at the perfect moment. This precise movement causes Sargon to switch sides with the Masked Monster. The swap is instant and places you behind it. You cannot force this window in any other way, so patience and timing are everything.

When to Deal Damage Safely

Right after the swap, the Masked Monster exposes its abdomen. This is your chance. Land quick, clean hits while it reels. Do not get greedy. The creature will turn to face you again after a short beat. Reset your footing, watch for the next red flash, and prepare to dodge into it once more. Repeat this rhythm of bait, swap, and punish until you control the flow.

Handle the Turnaround

The enemy will rotate to recover its guard and mask its weak point again. As soon as it starts turning, back off and re-center. You need room to read the next wind-up. If you stay glued to its side, you may mistime the dodge and get thrown. Keep your nerves steady and keep the cycle going.

Finish the Fight—or Move On

You can choose to defeat the Masked Monster with enough cycles, or you can use the opening to slip past and continue exploring The Depths.

If resources are low, saving time and health may be smarter. If you want the area clear, stick to the pattern until it falls. The strategy does not change: wait for the red flash, dodge into it to swap, strike the exposed abdomen, and step out before it turns.
